Can't stop believin' that although its great, one's television journey doesn't peak there... I'm holdin' on to that feelin' that BSG surpassed it.

😛

Damn, I thought I'd get some sort of response from Journey fans and/or people who actually watched the Sopranos finale...

Most overrated show of all-time perhaps. The show sucked ass after the first 3 seasons. And the final episode was a disgrace.

Buffy the vampire slayer over the Sopranos? Seems like if you liked Buffy you wouldn't like the Sopranos at all 😛

Nope, I too rate Buffy over the Sopranos, but have both in the top 10. I'd have The Shield 1, TZ 2, Buffy 3 and The Sopranos about 8th or 9th.

Apparently I missed all the emmys Buffy the Vampire Slayer won.

Nah I'm just kidding, I don't put any trust in award committees. But I do find it odd that people who's favorite show is Buffy like the Sopranos...aren't they as far apart as can be?

it's hard for me to rate anything above Buffy the Vampire Slayer,

😕 wtf? only on the internet....

anyhoo, Sopranos was great...no doubt about it. subtlety, experimentation outside the expected plot boundaries, and it didn't fail them...

but there has been better.

The Wire, for example.

I watched it maybe 6 times all the way threw and a couple partial episodes, this is basically every episode

*Tony's in the back room on his strip club getting a blowjob from one of his strippers - door busts in and somebody goes*

"a yo Tony! Vinny got wacked!"

*Tony smacks the shit out of the stripper*

"what the fuck is the matter with you? get the fuck outta here!" *bap bap bap on the head*

I saw that like 3 different times, almost the exact same scene every time. It was like an Olive Garden commercial with tits, cussing and violence.

I'd put the sustained excellence of The Shield and the brilliance of The Wire ahead of Tony and the gang. The Sopranos lost its way somewhere in the middle and never quite regained it way. Still one of the best shows of all-time, but Wire & Shield hang together all the way through.

Shows ahead of Sopranos:
-The Shield
-The Wire

On Par with Sopranos:
-BSG
-Lost (final ranking TBD)

Killed before their time:
-Firefly

lolol @ people putting Buffy over ANYTHING on HBO, seriously.. Buffy? Anyway, Sopranos was better then The Wire easily in my opinion, but still had too much ego stroking by Chase and a sub-par (putting it nicely) last couple of seasons to be anywhere close to the best show ever, it simply fell apart for me.

Gotta disagree, the Wire is a much better written and acted show on just about every level. Sopranos was good, Wire is the paradigm all crime dramas are held up to.

I received the complete box set for Christmas, and I'm currently watching it for the first time (only a few episodes to go), although I saw the very end of the final episode when it aired. Great show, but I'm not sure if I'd put it ahead of Six Feet Under, if only because of that series finale.

Ive been watching for the first time the past few months. It has its good moments. Otherwise the characters are mostly annoying.

Definitely entertaining, but the whole series is based around violence (killing and robbing). You don't like someone, you whack them. Someone disrespects you, you whack them. 80% of the characters were whacked which made for a very predictable show but some of the personalities were intriguing and reminded me of Dirty Jersey. My friends and I held a pool of who was next to die. 😉

It's called having a brain. Being able to think allows a person to appreciate many different facets of many disparate things. Skiing in the alps and snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef are about as far apart as can be. Bacon and chocolate ice cream are about as far apart as can be. Do you honestly believe that a person can't love all of those things despite their differences? It must be pretty boring to live a life where the only things you enjoy fall into a narrow set of parameters and that anything else is too different to have merit.

dammit, a little slow.

I wish it was on Hulu or somewhere online. I guess I'll have to wait til I get DVD's to finish watching it. I'm only on like season 2 or 3
