if the pilots are well trained, yeah. but the engines would probably shut down due to severe computer error, and that would mean the pilots have to actually fly the plane which is something we are noticing that many new pilots cant. they are trained in simulators and fly with assisted control, they are hardly pilots anymore.

We've had a few incidents of pilots losing all power. The planes didn't fall from the sky like a leaf. Most of them landed safely.

not that french one that happend 6 months or so ago. i dont even think they lost engine power... all it was- the speed sensors froze up, telling the computers there was no airspeed. that shut down the whole system, the pilots panicked and didnt know how to keep altitude (which they say is trivial for any pilot- something about nosing up 5deg tilt and 50% engine power or something, i cant remember exactly). no survivors due to pilot error basically. granted, they had ZERO instruments, they were in a severe storm and every alarm they had was screaming at them.

the only reason i watched the whole episode was the girl was hot and wearing lot cut pants. wish her A's were C's though...:colbert:

not something i will miss monday night football to watch though

i'm watching right now, i think they're Bs.

6. Everyone has perfect hair and brand new clothing, except fat guy

7. Acting was really bad

Yup, and
- Militia didn't destroy the village after the little rebellion? Hard to believe. Same for Computer Woman who lied about hiding the boy. Bad guy should've killed her, or least pillaged the house, and found the computer.
- Awful characters and script, but why waste good writing on the crap-ass actors?
- Replacement refs on MNF were better than Revolution cast. The only decent actor, Elizabeth Mitchell, was killed quickly, but it appears that she will be back in flashback scenes.

This show makes The Postman look like Citizen Kane. (I couldn't help but compare the show to The Postman and The Road in terms of "realism" for a post-apocalyptic setting.)

Question: When the girl encounters secret agent Archer Boy at the Waterfall Ruins, was that the same location as the final episode of The Walking Dead season 2?

Holy shit, Elizabeth Mitchell was in there? I thought I saw Penny from Lost in a flashback.

I doubt it's the same waterfall. Walking Dead is filmed in Georgia. Revolution, I think, is in Vancouver since I saw the guy from Stargate (the father) SG-1, and the female lead is from the prairies.

2. Fat guy. 15 years since the loss of electricity and mass food production based on electricity, people are living in tiny villages with even smaller farms, and this guy is fat.

Um... some people have always been fat and not just recently.

So, story-wise... why do people have muskets and 1800s-era rifles? The catastrophic incident is just the power going out... where are the assault rifles?

We have no clue how far technology has stopped working as some have said stuff about steam power but I would assume it would be hard to make modern bullets compared to ammunition for those guns.

Some modern weapons were shown but it looked like only the important people can have access to them.

5. Everyone (except fat guy) is fit and has muscles, despite food supplies probably being very tight.

Ya!

What about seeing cavity fillings of actors in Game of Thrones.

They didn't have dentists back then that could perform that kind of expert work!

That ruined the ENTIRE series for me. 😛

Well there was not that many militia to begin with compared to how many people were in the village.

As for the computer woman hopefully that's because Gus... I mean Giancarlo Esposito ( 😉 ) is a big part of the show and you just can't have him kill everyone all the time or he would be a boring character.

No, nothing at all "shut down" on the plane. The auto pilot system disengaged due to lack of airspeed data. The plane was working normally otherwise. All sensors and indicators functioned normally except for the airspeed indicator for a short while.

They were without accurate airspeed data for less than one minute. Had they sat on their hands for 60 seconds, they would have been fine.

The plane's own momentum carried it through the area of icing and the pitot tubes were clear in about 50 seconds.

Had they pushed the auto pilot button after one minute, they'd still be here.

The only thing that shut down was the pilot flying the plane. For some reason we will never know, he pulled up when the autopilot disengaged, then he kept the the nose of the plane pointed up, and no one else seemed to notice.

The soldiers at the military camp (end of part 1) had the assault rifles (looked like G36's). I guess the low peons in the food chain had the muskets while the leader's body guards had upgraded weapons.

Also I am assuming the first few years had a lot of fighting and without a way to repair modern guns and make the bullets they tend to become nothing but paperweights other then the few we see.

I was hoping it would be something like the S.M. Stirling books but the few minutes I saw was only a pale imitation.

Could it be an ammo problem? I think it would be harder, without electricity, to manufacture modern cartridges than musket bullets.

Game of Thrones isn't set 'back then.'

so maybe they did have fillings, or some of the people developed spots on their teeth.

I just Googled the Walking Dead location info, and that waterfall (Elder's Mill near Atlanta), looks identical to the one in Revolution! http://walkingdeadlocations.com/?p=439

I can't believe they have no refrigeration. Come on everyone knows with some anhydrous ammonia and a source of fire you get a working refrigerator.
That RV the chick ran into probably had a propane fridge.
🙂

One of the creators has indicated that they do already have an explanation for whatever caused the outage and supposedly some physicist signed off on it as plausible. They did not mention whether the amulets were plausible.

I'd love to hear that. Something that stops the propagation of electron waves in metallic conductors, but doesn't affect any other form of electron interaction such as nerve action or indeed all chemistry, including the basic cohesiveness of matter? Shit, I prefer the warped physics of Flash Forward. At least I can fanwank that with existing fringe science -- all I need is the Penrose-Hameroff conjecture (which even the show hinted at) and Bearden's unified field theory.
