They call it Reverse hypertransport, but I believe they meant hyperthreading.
Anyway, it could have been an interesting feature.

But this may be some good news. Q4 might bring FX-64, and all older models will be reduced to 65W power consumption down from 89W. And 95W for quad core. Not bad AMD!..

I'm glad we got something more "official" about it (a denial had to come from someone trustworthy). So it looks like AMD plans to weather the Conroe storm with good ol'fashioned price cuts. It could work, since I'd say Conroe's availability for the first few months after launch will be spotty (7 X6800s on sale does not really mean anything).

Yes, it seems price cuts are the order of the month.

About those 7 X6800's on sale. This is before the Conroe series is officially due to release. July 14th. Some vendors would like to capitalize and jump the gun, similar to what a few vendors do when new gen vid cards come out. The availability myth of Conroe is just that. A myth. At least give it a chance and see what the official launch date brings.

EDIT: You can tell I am being rather positive about this. I have been impatiently waiting for Core 2 Duo and have been fighting temptations to buy an AMD rig, OR an expensive AGP card for my existing P4 rig (7800GS). Just a little longer. ::::mumbles::::

Heh. There are always availability problems when a new part is launched. Then again, Intel could be going above and beyond what it has to in order to have broad availability at launch.

I am more concerned about board availability this month for the early adopters, this will change in August once the board suppliers are fully ramped up.

yeah, I don't think CPU availability will be a problem. They've been stockpiling these since June; OEMs will not automatically switch, they'll introduce a C2D desktop or two; and Intel's capacity is huge.

It's the MBs I'm worried about... we were supposed to have more than a handful available in June.

Problem is ppl quote it when it says what they want to hear or wish will be true...the ATI fanatics in the video forum come to mind and the crazy misinformation about pipes and speeds that was leading up to the X1900 release....

I find them usually as being dead on cause they are stealing the news from elsewhere and likely more reputable sites, or dead wrong cause they did their own research and manufactured their own reports....

Just a note for the INQ haters: Xbit now has verified that "reverse ht" does not exist and will not for at least 10 years, if at all, in their estimation. Though it was interesting to hear from a somewhat more reliable source.
