jelly. That nest is cool as heck.

No idea what we get in S.C. Just give us some birds.

I'll look into the nesting possibilities.

So you get multiple varieties on 3 feeders? The ones we get fight like crazy. Can't imagine different birds in the same yard.

Two years ago we had our first hummingbirds set up shop. Really cool. I'm in MA, it's a ruby throated.

I have a feeder, bought one as soon as I saw it lol.

This year, a coworker gave me two azaleas, they bloomed, and the hummingbird took to it well.

Ours are bloomed and gone before the birds. Oh, did I say damned yankees?

Lol.

We'll see what happens next year, after moving them I wasn't sure they'd bloom. Spent about 24 hours above ground.

I actually found some shoes for my bitch ass size womanly feet (size 7 or 7.5) at Shoe Carnival! And they had a buy-one-get-one-half-off deal for 30 minutes while I was there and I just made it, haha. And their website has size 7/7.5 too so I can order a brown pair too WOOT.

Found an open honey cake in the fridge left from winter. Took it out, and was it kind of hard. Some brandy butter and 30 seconds in the microwave fixed it right up. Now I have delicious honey cake.

I planted a couple of pounds worth of seed after the retaining wall was finished. Lots of bare ground begging for some foliage. I planted hummingbird/butterfly mix, anti-deer mix, dry area mix and a couple of other combos. It's weird how they've sprouted. Some areas are virtually choking with sprouts and other areas are still completely bare.

I planted them before it rained a couple of days in a row but it's been dry since then. So I've started watering them. Because the soil is mostly shale it doesn't absorb water too well.

Then there's the hose issue - The faucet nearest the wall is hooked up to an artesian well pump that no longer works. So I have to use the back faucet and run 150' worth of hose to get anything done.

Woke up >1hr late but got to the office at the same time since I didn't have to get the draftsman. Now sitting in the office imaging computers with the windows open to get rid of the stink. With any luck, I'll be able to avoid any real work today, and have a nice vacation.

edit:
Day's progressing nicely. Got some chainsaw work in, and found I really can sharpen chains. This has been an ongoing project, and I've spent more time sharpening my chain than cutting wood. I was starting to think I was doing something wrong. I put a brand new chain on today, and got about three cuts in before I had to sharpen it.

The wood's pretty gnarly with dirt embedded in the bark, but it isn't always obvious to me since I'm half blind. I guess it just dulls the chain extra quick. I think I have all the sawing done, and all that's left is to split.

I'm using a poulan pro. It gets a lot of grief around here, but it's been a great saw for me. Always starts, always cuts, and I paid ~$150 at walmart. If I had my choice at the time, I might have bought something better, but that was in walking distance which was good since my place got raped by a storm, and my windshield broke in my jeep.

I've been contemplating a better saw. The two contenders are stihl and husqvarna. I've just about written stihl off. Know why? I was in a shop looking over some saws, and wandered over to the counter, and they had little stihl pocket knives on a display board. Take one off and look at it; made in China. If you don't give enough of a shit about your name to have your knives made somewhere decent, why should I give a shit about your saws? I fuckin' hate that. Formerly quality brand whore their names out for any shit company that wants to license it, and/or they cash in on the name themselves, making substandard junk.

It's a banner day. I just looked outside, and the blueberries are ripe. I'll have blueberry and lavender honey yogurt for breakfast tomorrow. Seems like they came out of nowhere. I guess I haven't been paying close enough attention.

Last week I put batteries in my KitCat clock for the first time in a few years. After scraping off the corrosion, it kept good time, but the tail and eyes wouldn't move. Looking close, you could see it quiver a little bit. Today, I finally took the eyes out and cleaned them good. It's now working great, and keeping good time. Probably one of the last American made clocks you can buy. I'm thinking about getting one for the office, just cause :^D

I've had this truck since August, and never tried the cd player. I found a cd case on the side of the road, and thought I'd see how it worked. I put in a Now That's What I Call Music disc, and gave it a try...

That's *NOT* what I call music, and the disc won't eject :^S
d3f8b8cefc.jpg

I start my truck with minimal starter action, and it usually jumps to life. Today, I released the key, and the truck didn't engage. That confused the stereo, and that god awful cd started playing. I spammed the eject button, and it came out, then went in, then came out, and I grabbed the fucker, and pulled it out of the stereo. I'm rid of it forever!

I'll make a mp3 cd, and consider it permanently installed. I have to figure out the best collection of music that makes a good default when I don't feel like hooking up my phone, or listening to news/classical.

Went to book a compact car rental through my insurance provider (for the discount). A Cadillac XTS ended up being $18 cheaper overall than the Toyota Corolla. I think this will be the first decent rental car I've ever driven :D

Biglots had polaroid bluetooth speakers on sale for $15 over the weekend, so I got a little tower for my truck. It's fits great in the back on top of the folded up seats, has decent volume, good enough sound, and the bluetooth works great.

I was using a shitty little ihome speaker that had crappy volume, boomy sound, and virtually zero bluetooth range. I can now listen to my phone in the truck without getting irritated.

It was 113° Freedom today and the A/C in my Fit kept up despite all the glass. The house A/C is also keeping up just fine.

We have a heat wave right now, and I have A/C, so I don't need to sweat in agony in my house. I try to wait till past 7 to turn it on as hydro is not as expensive then. Just fired it up now.

Was starting to get hot in here.

Living Room: 23.75°C (=)
Hallway: 24.625°C (=)
Server Room: 24.875°C (=)
HVAC Return: 23.3125°C (-)
HVAC Supply: 14.5°C (-)
Outside: 28.5625°C (+)
Delta Temp: -8.8125°C

I wish 28C was a heatwave here. That's what we call a mild summer, which it actually has been so far. There's been a few especially hot days, but overall cooler than it's historically been. The last couple years I've been screwed out of winter, but summer's been moderately hot and looong. I don't like it. I'll take an extra hot short summer and real fall/winter over this crap.

Yeah this is not QUITE a heat wave but still very hot, and it was only a few days. IMO I say 30 and higher is heat wave. That's when it becomes hard to even breathe.

Now it just turned into what looks like will be an epic thunder storm.
