Woke up >1hr late but got to the office at the same time since I didn't have to get the draftsman. Now sitting in the office imaging computers with the windows open to get rid of the stink. With any luck, I'll be able to avoid any real work today, and have a nice vacation.
edit:
Day's progressing nicely. Got some chainsaw work in, and found I really can sharpen chains. This has been an ongoing project, and I've spent more time sharpening my chain than cutting wood. I was starting to think I was doing something wrong. I put a brand new chain on today, and got about three cuts in before I had to sharpen it.
The wood's pretty gnarly with dirt embedded in the bark, but it isn't always obvious to me since I'm half blind. I guess it just dulls the chain extra quick. I think I have all the sawing done, and all that's left is to split.
I'm using a poulan pro. It gets a lot of grief around here, but it's been a great saw for me. Always starts, always cuts, and I paid ~$150 at walmart. If I had my choice at the time, I might have bought something better, but that was in walking distance which was good since my place got raped by a storm, and my windshield broke in my jeep.
I've been contemplating a better saw. The two contenders are stihl and husqvarna. I've just about written stihl off. Know why? I was in a shop looking over some saws, and wandered over to the counter, and they had little stihl pocket knives on a display board. Take one off and look at it; made in China. If you don't give enough of a shit about your name to have your knives made somewhere decent, why should I give a shit about your saws? I fuckin' hate that. Formerly quality brand whore their names out for any shit company that wants to license it, and/or they cash in on the name themselves, making substandard junk.
