Also, can you get a hitch for it so i can put my bike rack on?

I want a roof rack. What's the towing capability of this car anyway? Also, do they offer it with a 15" wheel option for those of us who don't want to spend $1,500 everytime we wear out a set of rubber?

It sounds like you want an SUV. 😛

I was being facetious. 😉

I may be a little biased here being a TT Z32 owner and all, but the 350Z always felt more like a new era 240SX than it did new Z. This seems like a step in the right direction, but it still seems like if you would park this new Z next to mine, the much older car still screams "supercar" much louder. I understand the Z32 was in a much higher price bracket but still I feel there could be more ton to help the Z34 look the part a bit more. Lower, wider and meaner.

What person calls the old Z a supercar? Sports car, sure. 300hp out of a stock TT Z is a decent amount of power. It's not a supercar.

Well, I think he means how it stood against the cars of the era. When it came out in late '89 as a '90 model, the TT 300ZX was hands-down faster than Vette, MK3 Supra, Mustang 5.0, etc, and was even competitive against 911 Turbo.

When the 350Z came out, it was mediocre against the Mustang, and hands-down slower than Vette, 911 Turbo, etc. It was only moderately faster than a Camry V6.

Don't care for the headlights, but I like the rest of it better than the current model. The HP bump is the most welcome addition though. The current Z is pretty sterile performance wise compared to its past incarnations.

i'm more excited about the rumored weight loss.

Looks like there is a hitch mount for 350Z, hopefully they will make one for 370 too, but probably will have to wait before buying one.

I like it. However, I'll wait for the 2010 model and hope prices are relatively the same as they are now for the current 350Z.

240Z here. You can see the general flow of the car (especially the roof/windshield rake/hatch) is very similar.

The Z concept was more of one the owner would end up customizing.

There are a ton of extremely fast ones down here.

No shit, my friend has a 1970 240Z with a SR20DET engine swapped in. He has coilovers, light wheels, agressively treaded tires, etc. He also got a front lip and a rear hatch lip, but it looks stock. He beat an M6 convertible in a pretty much straight line. I'm sure he can destroy them in the canyons. The car weighs ~2400lb IIRC (we weighed it). He also has roll bars, racing seats, alcantara steering wheel, etc.

Cars have come a long way since 1990 and you'd have to spend tens of thousands of dollars more to get your hands on a new Vette and a hell of a lot more for a 911 Turbo and good luck impressing anyone, other than the women in your local PTA, with a Camry...

looks pretty good... not a big fan of the stone cold dash though. And I hope there are people with no heads to fill the back seats. 😀

Not sure what any of that has to do with the 350Z being an underwhelming performer. For a car that no one would buy for its practicality and has traditionally been a very good performance value, the 350Z did not continue that tradition. Kind of dumb too, that you can buy a version for 10 grand more, w/out any options, than the $28k base model, that has no engine improvements and isn't any faster. At $28k, it's a decent performer, but every other model is over $30k, which faces some much better performing competitors, up to the $39k Nismo model which is no faster than the base, and would simply get its ass handed to it by a slew of cheaper vehicles ranging from large family sedans to station wagons.

i'm more excited about the rumored weight loss.

The 350Z isn't being held back by it's weight. It's in the same weight class as a base C6 Vette, STi, and Evo IX, 2 of which are similarly priced as well, but all perform significantly better. Heck, the Pontiac G8 GT is a full size sedan that weighs about 800 more lbs and will outperform the 350Z.

are you kidding? family sedans and station wagons?
are we talking about v6 camry's and altimas? and are we talking about straight line performance?
the 350z is more a track car than a drag car. it hangs with m3's and while not as nimble as an rx8 or s2k, its times are similar to those as well.

and gee, 800 more lbs, 2 more cylinders and almost double the displacement. who woulda thunkit.

i'm no nissan fanboy but your anti-nissan is definitely showing.

I dunno about all that, they're close on the skidpad and pretty much neck and neck in the 1/4 now.

G8 would be neck and neck in the straights, can't hang in the corners, not even close.

The new Z's are significantly faster and this car will improve on that even more.

It's a two seater.. but you can only fit two bodies in the back if they don't have heads.

Well it's official, going to be 332-HP.

Pretty much exactly what was expected, can't wait to see some hard numbers.

Autoblog

Also, I thought this was interesting:

We also now know that its VQ37 engine will put down exactly 332 horsepower. That is a couple more ponies than are currently produced by the same engine inside the Infiniti G37. For those who like to rest their left foot while driving, a 7-speed automatic transmission will also finally be offered. And for those who enjoy some fancy footwork, but don't have a perfectly calibrated heel-toe, a rev-matching downshift system will be available for the 6-speed manual.

Hmm, sounds fun if it works well and isn't just a gimmick.

Now we just gotta wait for the curb weight!
