So I made an impulse buy a couple days ago. I bought a Palit gtx460 card at Fry's Electronics without doing any research. From what I found out (after I installed the card of course) is that Palit has an iffy warranty. Can you return graphics cards to stores, even if you used them for a couple days for a reason like this?

Card runs fine, quiet and cool....but I'm still concerned. Obviously I can find much more reputable manufacturers online for cheaper.

Thoughts?

You can, but they most likely will hit you with a restocking fee. Although I did return a power supply I bought that wasn't compatible with my first PC back in 2001 and the Fry's in San Jose didn't hit me with it.

I would not be too worried about the Palit brand. They are expanding in the NA market. There is only a slight chance that you will need warrranty service before you feel the need to upgrade. The GTX 460 is well-rated and runs cool.

Everybody has heard/read bad service stories about various manufacturers.

um why not just look at the stores return policy?

Because it's just soooo much easier asking random people in a forum who may or may not know rather than reading the back of the receipt....don't you know anything? Speculation is just sooo much better. ;)

Never had any issues returning anything to Fry's within the first 30 days. No restocking fee or anything.

If their return policy is anything like best buy. they'll take anything back for any reason within the return time frame.
I wanted to compare my home built sub woofer to a new one from the store this spring. I went to BB brought one home and returned it 4 days later, no questions asked. I bought an Onkyo TX-SR507 and 10 days later I found a better deal on the internet for the model up, the TX-SR607, not only did they take the 507 back, they matched the internet price minus shipping on the 607.
I could not be happier.

I did. It says you cannot return motherboards, memory, cpus, etc for refund if opened....only exchanges. I asked because I know some businesses just put things in their policies to cover themselves, not necessarily something they stick to by the letter.

I was just wondering if anyone's done this and run into problems. I don't really feel like taking it out and running it into Fry's if someone has tried and said to not bother.

Co worker returned a 5770 and got a 5850 (edit: he returned the card for cash and got a 5850 off of newegg lol) with no issues or restocking fee....most computer stuff is either 14 days or 30 days. However, there's not really anything wrong with Palit. EVGA is the brand of choice, but as long as it's a nice reference design card and you got a good deal on it, keep it imho.
