Returning software

So I went out and bought Norton Ghost 10.0 from buy.com because I needed to image my main 80GB SATA HDD which was running out of space to a new SATA drive.

I tried it out and it kept failing. When I tried to fdisk or format the new drive, I couldn't because of some error about being a system drive. So I was stuck with a drive that didn't work when I finally realized I should look it up on Anandtech. After reading some reviews about true image, I tried it out and low and behold it worked on the first attempt.

Now I'm a bit POed because I bought this software for a one time task and it didn't work. Can I return this POS or am I stuck with it?

Usually the policy is that you can only return it for the exact same software, so you are basically stuck with it once you buy it.

You might want to look into a credit card chargeback. It's well documented from consumer reviews that Ghost does not do what it claims to do. Ghost is the biggest software scam on the market IMO.
