Do you remember way back when, when you returned a "defective" 6800Ultra? I just wanted to remind you that you no longer have a 6800Ultra because it was "defective". Chances are that if there is any truth to your poor framerate using the 6800Ultra, it was because it was "defective". Your thread title says "defective". I am willing to bet that your current X800Pro is "not defective". Anyway, congratulations on your new X800Pro which is "not defective". Enjoy.
There are some points to consider here.
1) OP originally placed all blame on SW Battlefront for frying his 6800Ultra (NOT his ULTRA).
2) Most sites did not test with the new 4.10s, which obviously have some serious ops going vs. the 4.8s.
3) firingsquad and anandtech differ in their fps. Firingsquad at 1280/1024 give fps around 55-60 for both cards. Anandtech gives both cards between 80-87 at 1280/960. These benches are supposed to be intensive, so ingame play is likely higher.
4) Nvidia cards ALWAYS take a larger performance hit in AF. Going from 8X to 16X will no doubt close the 8-10% gap these sites are testing.
I don't doubt he's pushing 80's with the pro under these considerations. Faster ingame play, 4.10s, and anandtechs scores all argue for such a result. I am not so sure about the low score with his ultra, but I don't doubt that either since firingsquad would have put it at ~50 with 16xAF.
Something may have been up with that card as keys suggests. Who knows? But there is no need to start calling someone a liar.
