I bought this game right before Christmas. I have had nothing but problems with it. Activision tech support is the suck!

I always have problems at the end of levels. When a cut scene tries to play, i get sumped to the desktop or get an error about brushes. Activision tech support suggest these fixes:
Run desktop at 640x480 24bit(did it!)
Update drivers(did it!)
Make swap space max and min 600 meg (did it!)
delete the 2 DLL files in the GL folder of RTCL and add an OpenGL DLL file from my windows directory (did it!)
Run game in safemode (Did it!:)

I've tried all of these and the damn game still is messed up. has anyone else had these problems? did you fix it? how??? I run it with nothing in the background as well, but it still wont work :(

My system:

Maybe try another audio setting? If your running under EAX or A3D, try something else. I'd say you've played around enough with the video, try the audio next.

Ok I changed my sound setting from within the game (High to low quality) and I still get the same errors.
Bios+VIA 4in1+sound+video+directX drivers are all up to date and current

I saw over at Bluesnews that they just released a patch for RTCW. Don't know if that would help or not.

I'm running WinXP and not had any problems. One of my buddies was having similar problems and he upgraded to WinXP and the problems went away.

there is a new patch out at Bluesnews. I dloaded it and found a support article that said to uninstall and copt the cd to the hd then install while in safemode. I've done it, but have not had time to play it to see if the errors are still there. I'll be chaing it tonight and posting what I find out.

I have been thinkin gof going to XP, but I keep reading for games it is slower than 98se.

I don't think so. If you use the video card drivers that XP installs it will be slower. I installed the 22.80 drivers and my 3dmark2001 score actually beat my 98se score by a couple hundred points so they are about the same. I would do a reformat and fresh install though if possible.
