This. I've got a Fascinate and it alone has convinced me never to buy another Samsung phone again. Their customer support is ATROCIOUS! The screen is beautiful and the battery life is alright, but it's not better than what you've got in your pocket right now.

What else is there to choose from? DX? Better battery, worse phone. DInc? Very nice, but same battery issues.
What's wrong with the DX? Everyone that I hear from raves about it.

None of the Android skins are as good as iOS, Sense is definitely the most user-friendly of the bunch though. Blur and TW are awful, I kinda like stock Android though, but I think the average consumer wouldn't.
Vanilla Android has its attraction; kind of like a plain, barebones kind of attraction ;)

I don't think there's nothing inherently wrong with it, it's not as nice as a TB. I think the build construction is kinda meh and Blur is definitely a step back, out of the box it's definitely a better phone than my Fascinate.

IMHO HTC is putting out the best products in the Android market right now (although I've yet to play with a decent LG), if this trend continues they'll be getting my business come upgrade time.

I am on the fence about returning as well. For me, it's the build quality of my particular phone. I have a large gap at the bottom of my phone and the LED's leak light out the bottom which also allows a buttload of dust to gather there. My home and menu buttons are half way lit up and the LED behind the speaker grill is the most worthless thing I've ever seen. Other than that, it's been the tits....

I rooted the phone and still very dissatisfied with battery life. As for turning off 4g.. why else would I have this phone. If I plan on rooting the phone anyway would purchasing Samsung phone be a bad idea..

4G only benefits you if you are web surfing.. does nothing else for any other function except drain battery.

And indoor penetration of 4g signal is pathetic so if you leave it on it will CONSTANTLY search for signal and drain the battery.

There are widgets you can put on your desktop to toggle it on or off as needed.
It is recommended BY NO ONE to leave it on at all times.
3g is your daily go to radio that should be on all the time.
4g only when high speed wireless isn't available and web surfing is needed.
This is not just a Thunderbolt issue but a 4G issue period.
any next gen device is going to have this issue as 4g is still in it's infancy and far from a mature technology.

In your case return it for another.. that is not consistent build quality.

You've got a broken phone... you should get it replaced at least.

Welcome to the Android world.

Nopes. Android is definitely better than iOS. You need to pick your devices properly since some manufacturers put shitloads of crap on the phone and lock it so that you can't do anything about it. I bought a Nexus S and it's probably the best phone I've ever used.

Uh . . . what? Sense may be better than Blur and TouchWiz, but realistically, you could crap in a box, let it ferment for a few days, and it'd be better than Blur/TouchWiz. :p

The LP/ADW found in most custom ROMs though, is definitely better than Sense.

I definitely find Sense to be superior to Launcher Pro Plus and ADW Launcher.

i'm reading this thread and just thinking that all the shit you have to go thorugh just to get a phone to work the way it should out the box is amazing.

i have the droidX, been using it for about a month now. i like to see how the "stock" out of the box is before messing with stuff. i havent rooted or anything, and i still have the display at auto brightness. only settings ive really changed are the battery profile and have the gps turned off (im a bit paranoid about the location thing...). i use my phone moderately during the day, play games and surf the net on breaks and still have about 60% battery when i get in my truck at 4pm. i take it off the charger at 6am, so its more than 8 hours. i know i can get even longer life out of it if i dimmed the screen, ran a custom rom and did some more tweaking, but it hasnt been an issue for me at all. out of the box this thing has been a great phone.

Nopes. Android is definitely better than iOS.

they both have their qualities that make them good, id say they are about equal overall. i tend to like android more, i like being able to make it look how i want it to look. and thats with only using available tweaks on a non-rooted phone, too. but apparently i like the motoblur, because thats really the only one ive been using. i set up our PMs droid1s for them, but didnt really get to play with them a whole lot.

why is everyone so down on motoblur? what are the downfalls it has that sense doesnt? ive always wondered why people call it shit, and no one seems to give any examples of why. what makes sense so cool?

what does the optimus V on virgin mobile use?

I don't remember anyone saying it doesn't work, it just doesn't work to his liking. Get another phone from another manufacturer and if you don't like the way that one is then you're either stuck with it or have to jail break it.

To be honest I hated my Work Iphone out of the box and how you were forced into their experience across the board. Ended up sitting in my cabinet while I used my EVO.

I much prefer the Android where I can customize it to my liking from the ground up and run whatever custom build I want on it and make it look how I think it should look.
