return policy for hypersonic laptop, i'm a little confused

i hope this is the right forum for this. sorry if it's not.

i bought a hypersonic laptop a few days ago, and it's too late to cancel the order without a penalty. the trouble is, i didnt shop around enough, and i found a considerably better deal.
i looked at hypersonic's return policy, and it seems that i will pay a $100 penalty if i cancel my order now, but if i wait for it to be delivered, i'll only lose the shipping both ways? in other words, there is no restocking fee if i receive the unit? unless i'm reading it wrong, that's what i understood to be correct.

here is why i'm considering buying elsewhere.

Hypersonic Aviator CX2
purchase price $1542
shipping cost $51.50 (yikes)
total price $1593.50

ProNote 201m-V
purchase price $1225
shipping cost $35
2.5% cash rebate $-25
shipping rebate $-30
total price $1195

the cx2 and the 201m are the same machine, the pronote is branded by discountlaptops.com. not sure who the oem is, but they clearly come from the same one.

pronote advantages
pentium M 760 (533 MHz fsb instead of 400), cx2 comes with pentium M 755
comes with 512 MB (400 MHz) ram, which i'd sell and buy 533 MHz chips, cx2 comes with no ram (too expensive)
2 year warranty costs $50, which i'd do.
if i pay with a wire transfer, it would save me about $35, and cost me $10 at my bank.
shipping rebate - they refund your shipping if you provide feedback about the computer at notebookdiscussions.com. up to $30 rebate.

overall, the system is just much cheaper. i havent decided on specific upgrades if i'm getting the ProNote, i'll prob get the dvdburner if i can save this much money. so here's my question, what should i do about contacting hypersonic? should i wait to get the laptop, then initiate a return? should i call them now and tell them i'm going to return it right away anyway? i'm not expecting them to waive the $100 fee, and i certainly dont expect them to price match. comparing the system prices alone, it's over $300 cheaper. guess i should have shopped around a little better. what do you guys think? thanks very much.

That's a horrible policy you have there. "I want to return it because I found something better after I pressed 'ship it'"
If you cancel it now, that's your best bet. pay the $100 and next time learn from your mistakes.
If you actually receive it, the only way to return it for a refund is if it's defective

i should have mentioned this in the original post. no lecturers need reply.

and yes, that is exactly what i want to do. i want to save $300+, because that is a lot of money to me. thanks for the ethics lesson, but i'm not interested.

try reading the return policy link in the original post.

helpful opinions are still needed, thanks very much.

Best bet would be to call and tell them the truth, you found the same item at a lower price. Ask them to match the price or you will cancel the order. If it's a stock item they have no right to charge a fee for canceling the order, if they insist on the $100 charge, call your credit card company and get them involved.

You are so totally wrong....
Actually you need to go read the purchasing agreement!!

If he agrees which he did when when he clicked finalize order the credit card company will NOT get involved becuase he signed a binding agreement with the company that he ordered his desktop from!!

The credit card company will only get involved in situations that involve no signed or impliee contracts based on something he did not agree to before ordering what he ordered!!

yeah i'm not going to get the credit card company involved. hypersonic isnt screwing me over, i realize it's my fault for not shopping around more, but according to THEIR policy, i have 7 days to return the system. i'm playing by their rules, i'm not screwing anyone over here. i just wanted to know the best way to go about it.

money means sumthing to you why the hell would you get one of those laptops than?
nice contribution. i didnt say money meant nothing to me, i said $300 is a lot of money to me. spend a little more time on your spelling and a little less time making useless comments. i'm looking for genuine help here. thanks to the people who have helped so far.

well since you have not recieved there product yet.....
thus you still have time to cancel and take a $100 hit in the pocketbook.....

I would call the company explain to them you found a better deal elsewhere see if they would consider matching ro coming close to that better deal...if not ask them nicely if they would waive that $100 fee....

realizing full well they may not.....at which time if they say "NO" then you cancel take the $100 hit and order the other PC understanding that instead of getting a $300 better deal it will now only be $200 dollars better due to the $100 fee you just paid!!

Good Luck!!

Looks like the cheapest way is to just return it.
Pursuant to this policy, you may return to Hypersonic products that you purchased directly from us for a credit or a refund of the purchase price paid, less shipping and handling and applicable return fees as follows:
Hopefully the handling fees aren't sky high.

well, if i receive the product and return it, i dont pay $100, i just pay the shipping both ways. if i'm reading their policy page correctly.

actually, that's what i wanted help with. on the policy page, directly below where you copied and pasted from, is where the handling fees are listed. and it appears that there are none, if i return within 7 days. that is what i will probably do. still debating on whether or not to call them up.
