For Best Buy as long as you have everything that came with the card and it is less than 30 days they take it back no questions asked.I don't know about the others but I think CC is the same, don't quote me though;)

Yep, if its beyond the store's warranty period, you'll have to go through a direct RMA through the OEM. Most companies carry very good RMA policies nowadays though, as the video card market is very tight for consumer's precious dollars.

Depends where you go. CC and BB no, CompUSA yes, Staples, dunno. If you RMA to an online e-tailer, chances are they'll hit you with return shipping if they don't charge you restocking. Some online charge restocking no matter what, others like Newegg don't charge restocking on all items, but for some high-end parts they do no matter what. If you RMA to the mfg., you'll be out shipping, but most don't charge any service fee. Lots of mfgs. offer lifetime warranties too, even if you OC. Pretty cool in my book.

CC and BB also has a restocking fee, it all depends on the customer service rep that's doing your return, in most cases you don't have to pay, unless you mess up the package really bad. videocard is consider computer stuff right? so it's 14 days instead of 30.. no sure on that one.

Compusa will always charge a restockin fee. They try to take 15% off my $950 purchase, I was like #$@%$%*!

Anyways If you don't want to pay the restocking fee just do 2 returns. First return your openbox as defective,, they will give you another reciept and another unopen box.., then just go back next day and say you don't want it any more, or something like that., If they talk about restocking fee from the previous exchange just tell them " why should you be charge on a defective product return , and since this box for return is still brand new you shouldn't charge me any fee", if they start saying this and that, just tell them you want to speak to their manager.

You shouldn't really do this..

Happynic, video cards count as a computer peripheral at BB and CC, not as a "computer" per se. There are 14 day limits and restocking fees on certain items, like digicams, camcorders, computers, etc. etc. Basically anything that stands alone and lasts about as long as a 2-week vacation falls under 14 days and restocking :) They will take video cards back within 30 days, opened or not, with no restocking fee. CompUSA says 15% restocking on everything, but I've returned stuff to them before that was opened b/c it was defective and they didn't charge me (well, it was a PCTV, not really defective but the card sucked in XP).
