Hello to everyone,I got quick question here:

My sister bought me rtx 2080 asus strix gpu and as I guess it's not an OC version,returning it back will be serious pain in the ass,so I'm interested if this gpu can be overclocked manually and safely to the levels of OC edition?

Pretty sure you can still manually OC but the clock speeds wouldn't be as high. Whether it's significant I have no idea.

SIgnificant is when you are paying 800$ for gpu you want to get the best in its' class,that's why I'm asking

Not sure exactly what model number you have and what you'd want. If you can list those it would help because it depends on the type of cooling involved.

I wanted OC version with 1890mhz but I guess she bought non OC version with 1710mhz,my case is be quiet silent base 800 + I have dark rock Pro 4 on my 9700k cpu.

You'd have to look at a board review I guess. nVidia isn't letting them OC cards with non-A chips. The implication is that the A chips are the higher bin so in theory they should clock higher.

I don't understand, afaik the entire ROG Strix lineup is OC and high quality. I've had about a half dozen various Strix, and they've all been absolutely stellar.

Btw default boost on Strix 2080 8G Gaming (not Strix 2080 8G Gaming PC model) is already 1860Mhz.

OC was over 2ghz in test.

Overclock it.. same as the other models coolers.. i dont like asus the website sucks.. doesnt even say waht the normal clocks are .. i give up caring ! 🙂

OC was over 2ghz in test.

I was worried that I will get card with 1710mhz clocks and non A chip. My aim was to buy at this moment something powerful enough for a couple of years,so I wanted it to have some OC potential... Would you be so nice and check photo I've attached? If with the "worst" strix 2080 I can get good OC anyways,I can have that card on my hands in about 1 week when my sister visits me from another country or she can return it and I can get some OC version by myself in a couple of months or so 🙁

Don't return It, you can overclock it manually.

These cards more or less all hit a fixed range of around 2GHz once overclocked anyway, there's not much of a point of spending money on the OC version IMO unless the cooler is better.
