Return of the King Extended Edition

I want to get the lord of the rings: extended edition dvd soon, but i want to wait till after finals are done. has anybody watched it yet? extra 50 minutes of footage any good? I thought the extra footage in the previous 2 made the movies even better.

I'm hoping the wife gets it for me for Christmas. I have the 4 DVD Extended Edition of the first two movies, I have to get this one, too, to complete the collection. 🙂

IMO, the extra scenes for ROTK didn't really add to the movie. Only 2 or 3 extra scenes explained some missing holes from the theatre version. The rest were filler and overall a waste of time. But I do agree that the extra scenes in the first 2 movies were important in completing the story.

I really liked a lot of the extended footage, overall I thought it added a lot, and in places where it wasn't necessary as a fan of the books, I really liked it anyway, only one scene did I have a problem with

Huh??? The 20 minute ending was like 15 minutes too long already. Luckily there was no extra scenes added in the extended edition.

Saruman death really added to the movie though it does go against what occured in the book.
