My friends mobo died on him so I had to replace the mobo. He had a 250 gig HD full of mp3's that wasnt touched and now he is unable to get the data off since a new mobo was installed. The drive can be seen under the device manager and through his computer icon. What app can be used to retreive the songs or is this a lost cause. He has XP Pro installed. Thanks

Did he do a full format & reinstall of Windows when he replaced the mobo? If he did, then guess what...

All you have to do when replacing a motherboard is a In-Place Upgrade a.k.a. Repair Install of WinXP to get it to reinstall the HAL and redetect the motherboard hardware. This does not involve erasing the drive and all apps & files will be left intact.
