It doesn't look like it's a 3D TV, so 1.3a.Sorry if this isn't a thread for basic questions or anything, but does anyone know what type of hdmi a samsung UE32C6700 led tv supports? 1.3a? 1.4a?

I know this thread is played out, but does anyone have a recommendation for a resource to find information on monitors?
Cnet is useless (their recommended best priced monitor is $300+(?)), PCMag seems to not look at certain brands (eg, Viewsonic).
I've sort of been brand loyal to Viewsonic for a long time... usually by accident. I need to get an inexpensive monitor for my mother (replacing an old 17" CRT).
It looks like everything starts around 24" now, but some of the ViewSonic VX in that size have some poor comments on Amazon. (I'm unclear what the current model is seeing vx50, vx53, vx60, and vx70 models).
I'm not even sure where to start anymore. Suggestions?
While we're bumping up this great but old thread, I was wondering if 8 bit color depth is important anymore.
Based on this thread, back in 2007 I purchased an NEC 20WMGX2 and could not be happier. I still have it and it still works great (except when I went from XP to WIN 7 I lost the internal speaker function). One day I'm going to have to consider an upgrade. When I go into stores, some of them pretending to be high level, tech saavy computer stores, nobody has any idea what I'm talking about when I ask which monitors have 8 bit color depth.
