rethinking DS Lite

I was going to get a DS awhile ago abut after seeing how small it was i decided against it.

A girl at work brought her son's DS lite in to show us that Brain Age game. While I still think its pretty small, that game is addictive!

The only thing I worry about is that I was looking at the games at wal-mart the other day and nothing really jumped out at me. Seemed like a whole bunch of dumb kiddy games.

It is worth it just for castlevania, advance wars, and mario kart alone. Not to mention all the other good games.

I love my DS, so much. There are so many great games for the DS (Mario Kart is unbelieveable awesome playing against other people in the same room) that are out for this system.

I wont even bring up how much of a life saver this thing is on trips, especially on a plane.

I haven't been on a plan for 5 years but they now allow electronics that use wireless signals?

Nah--just make sure the wireless is off.

I've had a DS since the Kart Red edition came out... I played it quite a bit for about 6 months, then have not really touched it since.

There are a lot of games available other than the dumb kiddy games at Wal-Mart. The DS has a lot of crap shoveled on to it but there are some true gems.

i sold mine about a year ago and regret it now. i played the new super mario bros, zelda, brain age recently and they are awesome. contra looks good and ninja gaiden is on its way. i'm definitely going to pick one up again.

So lets name a few for him:

  • -The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass
    - Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
    - Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
    - Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (surprisingly a good FPS on the DS)
    - Planet Puzzle League
    - Puzzle Quest
    - Mark Kart DS
    - Metroid Prime Hunters
    - Metroid Pinball (so much fun!)
    - Hotel Dusk: Room 215
    - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (entire series is great!)
    - Yoshi?s Island DS
    - Advance Wars: Dual Strike/Days of Ruin
    - New Super Mario Bros
    - Brain Age

....bleh, I mentioned some that are already mentioned here. Ah well...

Legitimately, the DS is an ok portable device - the games are generally overpriced, and - for being portable - having to carry around a different flash card for every game is very annoying.

That said, illegitimately, the DS is incredible.

I really think Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is the Super Mario Galaxy of the DS. By that I mean it fully utilizes the DS's potential. The entire game is based around using the stylus, and each adventure introduces a new type of innovative gameplay. It looks kiddish since it has the same style as Wind Waker, but it's a Zelda game and still a lot of fun.

EDIT: Also I'd add Contra 4 to that list. Far from a kiddy game, and it's ridiculously difficult.

Please don't buy it, we don't want to hear you whining about it being covered in dust and asking how much you can sell it for.

But Advance Wars is awesome.

Got one back in December, and played Mario and Zelda for awhile. Its been sitting around collecting dust for over a month.

If I had the option to get a DS again, I probably wouldn't.

You missed all the Castlevania titles which are awesome. Plus all the GBA games you could probably pick up for cheap.
