Retainer Question

I got my braces off last thursday and got my retainer today...will my teeth hurt in the morning?

They might be a little sore for a few days but nothing compared to the first few days with braces.

its weird because i feel like theres spit constantly trapped underneath them.

It can't be as weird as the device I had in my mouth for a year and a half... called a pendulum or something. It's like a retainer (the older kind that weren't clear and didn't fit your teeth like a glove). When they finally took it off, all the skin on the top of my mouth was dead - it was nasty.

Anyway, I remember my teeth being extremely sore the first couple of weeks with the retainer (more sore than they had ever been). Luckily it doesn't last any longer than that.

i'm surprised it took a week to get your retainer. the orthodontist i know gives you your retainer the day your braces are taken off.

he gave my bottom one the day i got them off and then molded my teeth that day for the top one.
