My dad connects using a modem right now. We wanna get him on the network (& cable), but he still needs to be able to access his dialup ISP's mail. He use's Netscape for dialup, but also has IE installed.
I'm wondering if there's a way to set up IE for cable & leave Netscape for dialup.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
cheers,

actually, it depends on ISP. some ISPs allow you to send and receive emails via another network, but some of them only allow you to retrieve email via another network, not sending, due to protection against spam and other security concerns.

I have the same situation, I need to maintain my Dial up connection and email address, but I'm connected via DSL at home. and my ISP doesn't allow me to send via other networks. So I setup my email to be send via DSL network's SMTP server, but receive via the Dialup ISP.. and I set the email address to the Dialup ISP's.. everything is fine, except sometims a few ISPs will reject my email thinking it's spam (since the header and actual connection don't match..) in that case you just need to adjust
the email address with the DSL's and the reply to field with the Dialup's

I know it's confusing, but it's how I setup mine.. and it worked fine.

ya, we moved on from ICS recently - as I bought a router so 1 host computer doesn't have to be on permanently.
