Was looking for prices on a retail Radeon 8500 and came across this store. It beats any retail price on pricewatch by at least $21.

FYI- ATI has an employee purchase program that let's employees of authorized retailers to purchase one video card per year for personal use for half of list price. So, you can get a 8500 for $150 or a 8500 AIW for $200.

Could be OK.

It is a "powered by ATI" board, however, meaning that it is not made by ATI. Retail, in this case, may mean only that it ships in a 4-colored box. No mention in the ad about default speed or memory specs.

Still - might be a good deal, especially if it compares pricewise with 8500LE's, which it may be.

Yeah I didn't notice that "powered by ATI" on the box. All I saw was that it said "Made by ATI technologies" in their advertisement and figured they were referring to the card. They may just be referring to the GPU... I don't know. If you are interested in purchasing this card you should probably get that info from Abertek before you purchase. By the way, does anybody recognize the back of that box? Is that the back of the Retail ATI manufactured box?

This is what it says on ATI's site:
you will be given the opportunity to purchase DEMO products from our Club ATI program at a savings of 50% off u.s. list price.

Have you purchased this before and was it new or demo?
