Hey everyone,

I'm having trouble even finding PIII 700 retail box cC0s on the net. All i've seen is OEM. I've heard that the retail ones are often the "cream of the crop" selected by intel, and would thus be better candidates for swapping heat sinks and overclocking than their OEM counterparts. Is there any truth to this? If true, do any of you know where I might find a good pair of retail cC0s?

Thanks
Matt

P.S. the S-Code is SL4M7

Thanks for the nice words John. Unfortunately, I am beginning to wonder if Intel has actually released the SL4M7 (retail 700E fcpga). As far as I know, noone has seen one yet, including me.
I don't buy the retail is better theory. I had 10 700E cB0, all from the same batch and not a darn one of them would do 933. I get them all the time in trays of 10 OEM and they are pretty good. You can get a bad batch out of both retail and OEM.
What you may run into with vendors who sell OEM 1 at a time is cherry picking. That is where they take the ones that overclock and sell the rest off to the unsuspecting.
Do not ever buy an OEM cpu from a dealer that sells pretested chips, unless they are guaranteeing speed for you. I can guarantee with almost 100% certainty that you will get one that will not overclock. :Q

thanks compuwiz!

i hadn't considered the chance that i'd get the "reject" chips. i think i'm just going to pick up a pair of OEMs.
