Retail or OEM?

I'm about to purchase two Norton Internet Security 2002 retail when I came upon some OEM version. It was less than half of what I would pay for a retail but from what I read, it only comes with three months of update. Even if I pay to extend the updates for 1 year, it would still be cheaper to go with the OEM.

I know it wouldn't come with a manual or box but will the OEM comes with tech support? Would you recommend buying the OEM or just go for the retail? Keep in mind it would be like 2 OEM= 1 retail.

Please advice. Thanks.

i'd go with the oem... money is precious 🙂
besides, it offers the same features as the retail, just without the pretty box and manuals.

i'm not sure about the technical support and the warranty though, somebody clarify that up please. 🙂

The OEM CD-only version of Norton Internet Security 2002 @ JCSsoftware.com for $18.95 seems to offer one year of free internet security updates. I think it's a relatively simple program and you really shouldn't need tech support for it.

FYI, Norton SystemWorks 2002 Pro (CD only) is available for $13.95.

Like PowerYoga said, money is precious. There is not really that much of a difference between OEM and Retail. And like alrocky said, you don't really need tech support for NIS2002. You can also save yourself some money and download a copy of Tiny Personal Firewall or ZoneAlarm. Hope this helps.

Considering that I'll be buying 3 sets of NIS2002 and Winfax pro for 3 different systems, that's a considerable amount of savings.
Thanks for the replies 🙂

If you only need Norton's Personal Firewall 2002, you can get it retail bundled with SystemWorks 2002 at CompUSA this week 10-16 for $10 after MIRs.
