They bought them off those sites that showed they had 8-15 in stock, they actually received them...

Maybe 7/14 is the real launch date?

Since Dell gobelled up all E6600, 6400, 6700 and anything under... only thing left for retailers are the X6800... (don't think dell does too well in the extreme computing area).....

A few people have gotten the x6800 retail... so im guess by end of the month a few E6600 should be floating around

The temps don't look good. Maybe he is doing something wrong.

Nah those are the regular temps of these chips. I thought they would be cooler running by the first impressions awhile back at XS but the more peeps that have gotten temps from these indicate that they run HOT. But at the same time they still seem able to be pushed pretty far even with the high temps.(No memory controller on die to fail due to heat probably helps).

XS is down? Can't check the link, but... I believe these are cool-running, most MBs just have faulty/innacurate sensors.

For example, Asus boards seem to be reporting 10-20c more than what they are.

Well, it's the regular temps of the chips + 20C. Faulty temp sensors in the boards they are using reporting the temps wrong.

Yep, the fact that most are saying there hsf's are cool to the touch when the sensors are reading 70C suggests that the readings are way out in leftfield (unfortunately it seems that each board/processor is reading differently so they could be off anywhere from 5-25C and as such you have to be careful). Considering the power output is down considerably over p4's (and even a bit over opterons) they cant be running that hot with a properly mounted hsf so its just borked sensors.
