Too bad u cant oc em well and wtf is with the l2 cache?

It is the new Newcastle chips

Damn AMD heh. I wanted a Newcastle chip before they became rather old/obselete. Now, its not so likely. Its only because I live near Newcastle Upon Tyne and support Newcastle United 🙂

I want a hands on OC review.🙂

Now all we need is a Sis 755FX chip on a well implemented board.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

EDIT: after seeing the benchmarks I change my mind, it beats a P4 3.2 Ghz cpu in some benchmarks and for $217 it's pretty good bang for your buck.

I would rather have a Athlon 64 3200+ with the 1 meg cache !

Not for 200 bucks more.

Exactly...this looks sweet, I wonder how much the lack of cache will hurt it's performance...If this thing is overclockable on the new SIS 755 boards, it's gonna be mine!

I'll wait for the prices to come down more and buy the real Athlon 64 with 1 meg instead of a waterdown version which will barely beat the Athlon XP.

Barely beats the XP now, but the XP is maxed out and the A64 is just getting started. For the same price and possibly same performance, you get way more upsude. Future XP upgrade.......3000 to 3200. Future A64 upgrade.... 3000 to who knows 4000 maybe!

No way. Onboard memory controller has way too many benefits.

Just look at how much the EE beats the origonal P4 3.2C..

Not much, right?

And that's with 2MB of cache. The AthlonXP won't take any more performance hit, at the same frequency, than a P4 3.2C would take over the P4 EE.

The Inquirer has some interesting new info

So, is the 3000+ 2GHz with 512Kb as revealed in this thread, or is it 1.8GHz with 1Mb as the Inquirer claims??

I want some reviews. With this, we'll finally be able to make a pretty direct AthlonXP vs. Athlon64 comparison--see how much the 1MB cache really helps the Hammer and how much is the memory controller and other tweaks. Also, if that 3000+ rating is accurate vs. the P4 for gaming, it's a good deal at $250.

yas, I want to see some numbers, I would grab one of these for a gaming upgrade with the 755FX if it were any good.
