My Personal Tips on Buying DVDS:
[*]Always check for MIJ (Made in Japan), most of the time it'll provide top tier quality
[*]Use sites like http://www.nomorecoasters.com and http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia to determine what type of DVD stepping codes you'd get and what are proven good or bad
[*]Also use sites like http://www.cdrinfo.com to find out how well the quality of DVD burners are actually doing
[*]Use programs like DVDIdentifier to find out what DVD media OEM's you're getting
[*]If you can afford it, get a Lite-On or NEC to check out how well your DVDs are burning and scan them for quality

i bought a pack of these on sunday.. ive never had a problem w/ them before, but for some reason they will only burn at 3x on my burner.. thought it was kinda weird.. They are MIJ's.

Where are the fujifilms MIJs this week? Those are my favorites

what kinda burner? i've had the +R MIJ (YUDEN000T02) do 16x on my 3520a (after a hax though)

ah good to see the media thread back...

as for the deals, i looked and looked but couldnt find the tdk 25 pack that were MIJ at CC, all were taiwan and most likely CMC trash...
i headed over to BB and picked up a Verbatim 50 pack -R, Code is MCC 02 with a dark die meaning good quality.....

saddest part of my journey was seeing all those fuji 50 packs and knowing they are all TY just by the way the spindle looks... guess we will have to wait for the sale on them soon.

im looking for media with the ricohjpn code for tests, but cant find any brands localy, someone gimmie a heads up if they find it...

I bought 6 25-packs of Fuji DVD+R 8x MIJ TYs at FYE/Saturday Matinee earlier today for $13 a pop. not as good as the BB $10 a pack deal but thanks to all my Room Zoom trade-ins I ended up spending $5 a pack. 150 Fuji TYs for $30...not bad in my book. what to do with the other $400+ in credit? if only FYE sold hookers.

Compusa now has "Verbatim 2.4x DL DVD+R Media, 240 Minute / 8.5GB, Case, 3 Pack" $11.99

I Dont think weve been flooded with cheap DL medias (YET), so the code could be MCC or MKM
Burns at 4x on NEC 3520 with modified firmware. just a heads up.
