69xx can run 4 monitors without involving external splitters and such. The 5th is just so you have options on which connections to use.

Just as the 58xx had 4 connectors, but was handling 3 monitors.


Also, this card looks a little shorter than the reference 69XX. Can't tell for sure though. Also can't tell if that's a BIOS switch just next to the X-fire. Hope to see more about this soon. Price wars might be a-comin'.

Is the HDMI port still shared with one the DVI ports?
 
One DP is required and two of the ports are mini-DP, so I'm betting that yeah, the HDMI is still sharing.

I'm using the two mini-DPs and one DVI, so I haven't personally tested, but it was spotted on the Sapphire website.
