Anyone have any idea were you can still pickup a new DC console. My friend is looking for one and they have dissapeared in our area. Either B&M or online, makes no difference.

Crazy Taxi for 9.99 has already been posted. I wonder how Tallgeese let that one slip by?

In the past two weeks I've been shopping around hitting just about all the stores listed on Tallgeese's list. I havn't had a shread of luck outside of Best Buy's and Circuit City's. Every Comp USA has a crappy selection and their prices are not good. Every Target that I've been in has nothing and when they do have something, it's regular price. Every Toys R Us has been a total bust. No good prices or good stuff left at any store that I've been to.

Iwas at a CrapUSA last night and took one of the scanned receipts to see if they would honor the price for Record of Lodoss War and the manager gave me some crap about prices being regional. Whatever.. I'm not even going to waste my time with another CrapUSA. The only good thing to come out of it was that they have a new Antec SX1035B case with the 350w Antec PS on display. Until now, they have only had the SX830 (not even on display though) and I had always wanted to see what a SX1000 series looked like in person, let alone a black one. That's one fine case and it pretty much sealed the deal for me. Of course, I wouldn't buy one at CrapUSA with their prices? Are they the only ones with a 1000 series that has a 350w PS btw?

Also.. Has anyone tried two wheels on the Dreamcast yet? Still awaiting an answer.

Sal

Tallgeese's previous post about the McLaren wheel fell on the previous page for me. I must say, wow! Licensed McLaren wheel! I've got to give this thing a shot. I'm going to forego the extra games though. I have a new Sega GT that I picked up for $7.99 and I think I passed up a deal for under $10 on that other game listed. The only game that would interest me is the Tokyo Extreme Racer, but $30 for a used copy of Tokyo Extreme?

I dunno.. Gotta try the wheel though.

Sal

I must thank you....

Just got back from EB B&M got me a VGA adapter (MSR running right now. Had a switchbox already.)

Death Crimson brand new was 9.99. Already had a light gun. At least it will be getting more use than just HOD2...

Last but not least, the interact Arcade Joystick. Haven't tried it yet. Woo hoo!!

Still looking for MC2 steering wheel.

Salvador:
Did you use the receipt scan from CUSA or CC?
I have both of them here
you may want to try bringing both -- if they said the price is regional for CUSA, tell them to PM with the CC price. if they still won't let you PM, well then you should probably shove this up his face 😀

<< Did you use the receipt scan from CUSA or CC? >>

Yeah.. I printed the one from the CrapUSA store in California. If the receipt would've been from the Midwest, the idiot store manager wouldn't have had the regional thing as a lame arse excuse. What's funny is that I found Record of Lodoss War at a nearby Circuit City and with the 10% off sale (ended yesterday as far as I know), I picked it up for $8.99. What a deal! I then took back my copy of Lodoss War to CrapUSA and basically told them to stuff it!

BTW.. The only VGA adapter that I could find in stock was a used (from Funcoland for $15), but re-sealed clear blue ball type adapter made by Naki. It appears to look fine in the packaging, but I'm wondering how much of a safe bet it is going with a used re-sealed unit? How is this VGA adapter? I don't really need a pass through (would be nice though), but how is the picture quality on these compared to the Interact Performance models? The Interact is nicer because of the pass through, but how is the quality difference? I'm wondering because a VGA adapter is a big priority for me to use with my 21" Trinitron monitor. If I can find a Performance VGA adapter, I don't want to have to pay $40 or $50 for it used if it's not that much better than the other adapters that are commonly available other than having the passthrough feature.

In case no one's noticed yet, the Circuit City 10% off games ended yesterday (Saturday). I still picked up "Record of Lodoss War" for $9.99 even though it was stickered at $29.99.

KeinoDoggy, there's still a rackload (20) Dreamcast Consoles at 1 of the 3 TRUs in my area for $49.99. Call the TRUs in your area, they might still have a few.

still waiting on my stupid wireless controllers from buy.com

Does anyone know where to find those 4x (800 block) memory cards online for cheap? My local stores are alll out, and my 2 VMU's are already filled up...

Sal:

Sorry, no luck adding the McLaren wheel to a shopping cart here. Maybe you should contact them:

well, i guess i have to ask this again....

does anyone have the Topmax enforcer? How is it? I've heard crappy and good reviews.

Thanks!

Any place still around to get sega brand controllers for cheap?

i was at BB today and they had them for $15, the buy.com deal is dead i think because they look like they are indefinitely out of stock, and there were the cool blue vmu's for 9.99 also, is that a good deal?

Personally, I haven't seen official sega brand controllers anywhere (BM or online) for less than the $14.99 sold at BB and other places...

Donno about goin to funcoland and getting a used one mabye?

Best Buy is your best bet for controllers, but you will pay $15 for them. I'd say pay the $15 now if you need them before they're gone. You could always buy now and if you see a sale at BB within the next 30 days, you can always go back for a price adjustment. You can even return them if you find them somewhere else in the meantime. I'd grab what you need now though before you end up paying $15 for used ones next month.

Circuit City's last day for the 10% off was yesterday, that's why I was making a mad dash to all of the local stores in search of gold. 😉

Tallgeese: Thanks for getting back to me on the McLaren wheel. I did shoot them an email as soon as I PM you. I will also call them tomorrow and post what I find. I'm sure that you will do the same.

Littleman: I'm sure that nobody that has looked at your post has the Topmax Enforcer, otherwise they probably would've posted. At least I hope that they would. I'm still waiting on an answer about a 2 wheel setup for racing games in DC. Surely, there has to have been people that have tried it. About Topmax Enforcer. I've never even heard of the game and I've taken a crash course on DC stuff in the past 2 weeks.

Got a controller question. I bought a Sega Dreamcast fishing controller for $15. I noticed that there are a couple of Sega branded fishing controllers (not 3rd party like Interact or Madcatz). What's the difference? I got myself into the fishing games and want to be sure to get the best controller.

Another question. I managed to pick up Quake III and Unreal Tournement. I've heard that it is almost mandatory for Quake III to use a keyboard and a mouse and it makes gameplay better with UT. What's a good price for the Sega mouse and keyboard? I think I saw the keyboard somewhere for $10 and the cheapest I saw the mouse is for $10. Good price? Worthwhile investment if I managed to grab these games?

Sorry for all the questions.. I'm just a sucker for knowledge. 😉

Sal:

You...ask a lot of questions? NEVER! 😉

* Topmax Enforcer is an arcade stick. I found a review of the unit here.
* I would have an answer for you about 2 DC wheels already, if I hadn't been studying all weekend for my single freebie take of 70-240 (farkin M$) tomorrow morning at 8:30 in the a.m.
* I've only seen one style of Sega-branded fishing controller. Post a pic of the controller in question so we can check it out.
* Best prices for keyboard and mouse right now ARE $10 per for new units. Personally, I'm trying to concentrate on games that are ONLY available on the DC. Doesn't make much sense to me to replicate stuff I already have on my PC.

Tallgeese:

Maybe the other fishing controllers aren't Sega branded? Maybe the other ones that I see that say Sega on them, are in fact made by Interact and Madcatz? I believe one of them is called a Fission controller. Interact? Which is the best fishing controller that you know of? One made by Sega? I will post a link if I can find a picture of the one that I have.

I have Marine Fishing, Bass 1&2. How is Reel Fishing?

No hurry on the wheel. Really.. 😉

Doh! The Topmax Enforcer is a controller. Figures. No wonder why I haven't seen a review of that game. 😉 BTW.. What do you need an arcade stick for? Which games? I want to make sure that I don't have a game that I need another controller for. Heh.

Makes sense not to grab UT and Quake on DC if you already have the PC version. However, I don't own either of these games and I picked up both of them for under $10 each. I hate to buy a keyboard and mouse, but if it will make these games more enjoyable on DC. BTW.. Are these games better on the pc version of the Sega version?

Thanks again..

Sal

PS.. Way off topic, but man is this new Cendyne (rebadged Liteon) 24x burner sweet! I just burned a disc at 24x and I can't believe how fast it burns it. This thing is far, far better than the HP 8x that I just replaced. Worth every penny of the $65 AR at OM. Who cares if it doesn't match my black case. 😉 This deals forum is just awesome!

Opinions vary on this one. Some folks swear the sensors in 3rd party controllers aren't as sensitive as the Sega unit, and refuse to use them. I vaguely remember seeing somewhere that the MadCatz owns all the others. However, I found an amazing page of DC controllers here do you can browse them all. Enjoy!

<< I have Marine Fishing, Bass 1&2. How is Reel Fishing? >>

I tried Reel Fishing and enjoyed it thoroughly. Very Zen-like feel to it, with a bunch of tinkly-mellow music. You wouldn't believe how relaxing it turned out to be...I half-expected Bob Ross to show up and say "happy little tree." Digitized graphics in Reel Fishing gave it a nice look.

<< No hurry on the wheel. Really.. 😉 >>

Sure, I believe you...😛

<< What do you need an arcade stick for? Which games? >>

Most fighting games really require one to get the best gameplay, especially if you need to pull off killer combos. Think: Soul Calibur, PowerStone, Dead or Alive 2, Marvel vs. Capcom, etc. etc.

<< Makes sense not to grab UT and Quake on DC if you already have the PC version. However, I don't own either of these games and I picked up both of them for under $10 each. Actually, some people seem to prefer them on the DC. To each his own, I say.

And now that you've mentioned it, you're gonna have to post a pic to that case!

<< This deals forum is just awesome! >>

you forgot to add "at bankrupting people with hardware addictions" 😀

Now, I start my vigil for my VOOT Twin Sticks!

<< I half-expected Bob Ross to show up and say "happy little tree." >>

Heheheheheeh...I finally got an obscure joke! Those usually go right over my head (that's the reason I can't stand Dennis Miller 🙂 ).

Heh.. Funny movie Ishmeal.

Tallgeese: Thanks again for the response!

Damn.. It looks like I'm probably going to need an arcade stick now because I have a couple of those games that you listed (Soul Calibur and Marvel vs Capcom). Do these games suck without an arcade stick? What's good for an arcade stick that seems to still be available?

As for the fishing controller, I read on your link that you are supposed to have resistence when you reel in the fish? I have only opened Bass Fishing 1 so far and I don't get any such sensation of resistence when reeling in a fish. I do get an occasional rumble or two, but it's nothing lifelike. Could I have a defective fishing controller?

Same goes for the MC2 wheel. All I get is an occasional rumble when I go off road in F355 (only racing game opened so far). I don't get any sort of feedback. Could something be wrong here? Controllers? DC console? I want to be sure before it gets completely impossible to find another console or controller.

So.. Your advice on UT and Quake is to stick with the PC version? What's different about the Sega version and the PC version? Why would someone like the Sega version over the PC version? You seem to prefer the PC version for some reason. Could you tell me why?

Thanks again.

Sal

Just to let you know.. F355 was $8.96 at CC because of the 10% off sale which ended last Saturday. If you can still find it, the game will be $9.99 or $9.98.. I did find one copy after looking at several stores. Now I can return the copy that I paid $30 for at Babbages. 🙂

My Sears suck. One of them had discontinued game consoles for quite some time now and the other one hadn't marked down shat.
