Is there any way to resume play at the point you stopped the disc without starting the movie over. Ever time I press stop, then hit play later the movie starts over.

Mine automatically resumes at the stop point. Even if I exit to the XMB. There must be a setting somewhere that you can change.

Did you change something to get this to happen?

Same for me.

Maybe it's a software update to the PS3 that adds this. I'm up to date on the latest software release for the console.

Mine never resumes play, but I've always stopped the movie and went into stand-by mode, never just went out to the XMB and back again, so mine is probably working correctly in this instance.

Yeah, going into standby makes mine resume videos from the beginning as well.

It's unfortunate, because the HD-DVD add-on for the 360 has even remembered where I am in movies even after I've removed the disc and watched another all the way through, all the while having the system turned completely off for a few days.

That sounds kind of annoying to me.

The solution...don't stop your movie half way. Or, use the chapter/scene selection to resume fromthe closest point.

I don't know what makes it resume and what doesn't though, can't really help there.

Try going to the main menu of your PS3 and scrolling over to the movie under the video icon. Then press the triangle button on your controller or remote. You'll get a options menu. Click play, or play from beginning. The first option play should resume where it was last at.
