Resume question.

I am trying to figure out how to format the following paragraph to read properly.

What i am trying to get across is that during my time as warehouse mgr intern (2 months) I was responsible for the shipment of XX% of ALL shipments during the 7 months of operations in 2010

really need some help.

That's all you need to say imo.
 
You were an intern for two months, but were responsible for shipments over a seven month period? 😕

thats the part that is throwing me a loop whenever i try to type it out

lets just give an example

they were open 7 months, they shipped 10 items in those seven months
however, during the 2 months i was there, i was responsible for 7 of those shipments, thusly 70% of all products shipped during the operating year, were shipped by me...

Agreed. KISS. Also that sentence is a bit weak sounding, and I would go with something more like "Managed distribution of XX% of all shipments as warehouse manager intern"
 
Ignore the time frame that you were there. concentrate on what you did while there.

During my time as intern warehouse manager I was responsible for 70% of all shipments for 2010.....

That should get you going.
 
A resume isn't a conversation and shouldn't read like a dialogue. Just list what you did, accomplishments, skills, etc.
 
I'm not really sure why they would care what percentages of shipments you were responsible for while you worked there. It's not useful information to them, because it's a percentage of an unknown quantity. What are you trying to tell them about yourself with that line? Figure that out, and that should help you figure out how to phrase it or if you should leave it out.

This is good advice, what aspect of your good work are you trying to sell? If you say 70% of shipments. It sounds like you are reaching to make up some number that isn't terribly relevant to anything. Were you actually responsible for 100% of the shipments while you worked there? That sounds better than trying to say essentially that they did 70% of their business in the two months you were there therefore you participated in 70% of their business for the year.

Remember you are selling yourself, if you make some convoluted statistic up it will probably just be ignored or hurt your resume by adding information that doesn't actually sell you as a great worker.

yea, i handled and checked every order, i picked most parts of orders myself, as well as dealt with fedex and scheduling an earlier pickup if we were slow (less costs by sending ppl home early, etc), or express pickups if we were shipping out via express...

would it be better to state "was responsible for the accurate shipping of up to 80 orders a day."
"responsible for interacting with FedEx in order to schedule express pickups and to request early pickups in order to ensure lower costs and more efficient operations."

(note, i will NOT put efficient if i dont already have accurate somewhere above the line that states efficient... you cant be efficient without accuracy first)

I think the second sentence shows some amount of insight that you were thinking about costs and efficiencies. Accuracy is a baseline requirement but doing things more efficiently and taking initiative to ensure that efficiency is more impressive. Mentioning the number of orders per day might also be good, I have no feel for whether or not 80 orders per day is a lot.

This is my opinion though, you have to go with what you think works as you will have to talk about it during the interview.

80 orders was a made up number... at most there were 2 of us picking/boxing/shipping orders, as well as i was responsible for the tracking and recording of serial numbers, and more...

largest shipment day was when we attempted a same day turn around, received product, stocked it, sent through all the back orders, packaged, and boxed them...
that day we were not efficient... it was a hellacious day.

But on a resume if you tell me you were responsible for shipping orders then being accurate is implied, if you were not accurate then you just plain failed at the job. Doing your job at the baseline isn't necessarily impressive, doing your job and improving efficiency/reducing costs is. Resumes aren't about stating every aspect of your job it is about stating the aspects that set you apart and sell you as the employee they need.

I'm not saying it is bad just saying it is unneeded. If space is a premium then I'd remove it or merge it with the line about efficiency/cost.

Space is not at a premium. I have a terrible resume outside of the actual jobs I work... workaholic would be my best description of myself, i hate to admit it, but while i strive to be able to work to live, i pretty much live to work right now its terrible.
