So in an effort to grow up, I've decided that it may be time to leave my cushy club security job and persue an internship that is actually related to my current field of study (IT/Network Engineering).

There are a few companies looking for Network Administrator Interns in my area, and while I'd love to send them a resume right now, I'm not really sure what I'd put on it.

None of my past job experience is related to the IT industry at all (it's all been club/bar security, with brief stints of truck unloading at various local warehouses), so I'm guessing it's probably not worth listing those jobs and the responsibilities they entailed. Without listing those, I'm afraid my resume would just be a sad looking piece of paper with my name, address, email, and phone number listed on it, lol.

What should a guy with no relevant work experience put on his resume to help him score an internship?

Thanks for any help you guys can offer. :)

I think you should put at least some of the more recent jobs on your resume otherwise, yeah, it'll look pretty bare. None of my jobs are relevant to my degree (B.S. in Computer Science), but I put down the place where I worked the longest (4 years), which I did do computer hardware/software support as part of the job.

As a recent grad, I put down my education section first since it has more relevance than my past experience section. Are you currently in school getting a degree?

Your jobs may not have a lot of relevance to your schooling but they do show to employers that you didn't sit on your ass the whole time without working. Good luck! :)

Put recent work experience on it. An internship is an entry level position and they know that you are probably not coming in with experience. Your prior work experience will show that you are not lazy though.
