Resturaunt tabs being too small?

Is it ok to go to a resturaunt with another guy and share an order of nacho appetizers and with two beers? Do you think the waiters/waitresses get mad when people do this...order such a small amount of food?

Is it a bar/restaurant? If so, its perfectly normal. I worked at a restaurant/bar on a golf course. The league people would always come in and order that type of thing.

Yes, it's okay krunchykrome, as long as the two of you don't go home together! 😛

i dotn know why you would go into a restaurant/gridll/bar type place and just get a beer, tho

split a pitcher, or buy 2

Who gives a sh!t. It's your money and you're a customer regardless. The last time I heard you were under no obligation to order a full course meal everytime you step in a restaurant. If they don't like it too damn bad.

Totally normal, but if you receive good service, do tip at least a few bucks.

OTOH, there was a time when a waitress got visibly irritated when my date and I went into a place only to order some desert. (We had already eaten dinner earlier and had been bar-hopping for a couple hours.) I normally would have ignored the "percentage norm," giving her an easy 3 or 4 bucks (probably around 40%, in fact, for a quick and easy table), but instead, I wrote in exactly 15% on the credit card slip, and under that, I wrote "Self-Fulfilling Prophecy." In fact, I pulled the credit card out specifically so I could write that snide note to her, because I remember having plenty of cash on me that night for going to the bars.

Hahahaha, I think the tab came to $15, so we left him a $4 tip. I mean, I wouldn't go to a nice resturaunt and order an egg roll and a beer, but this resturaunt's entrees are generally from $8-$16.

Newsflash. If you go to a restaurant/bar and order alcohol, you don't have to order any food at all. And I have never seen a server get upset because a couple of people ordered just a single appetizer to go with their drinks.

Is it really that obvious of a question?

Well yeah... I mean, sometimes I walk into a restaurant's bar and don't even order any food at all! 😛

Or at this Tex-Mex place not far from me, sometimes we just eat the free chips and salsa with our Coronas and margaritas. They never complain. Alcohol mark-ups are huge at restaurants/bars.

edit: yes, please leave an appropriate tip though... between 10%-20%, depending on service, i.e. 10% = bad service, 15% = average, 20% = excellent. Stiff only if personally insulted and you never intend on returning.
