i have an ex-girlfriend who constantly harrasses me, i really don't know what to do. i work in an open area, so she constantly calls me, and if i ignore it she calls back and calls back and calls back. my boss is right near me, so he hears the calls and sometimes makes comments. i want her to stop calling. i've calmly politely and nicely told her to stop the nonsense but she wont stop. i fear i need to get a restraining order. I'm asking for other peoples history dealing with them... I know to inquire with the police. How do you get one? How long does it take to get one, etc.

Thanks

A nice idea but I don't think a restraining order is going to stop her from calling you. Have you contacted your phone provider and ask them to block the number?

Just continue "hitting it" on the side to get her to shut up and turn to the mob to take care of her when you find someone else:)

I might have been threatened with a restraining order once...<hypothetically>...

It will make her stop. Do it.

If your boss is giving you grief for it, it might be a good idea for you to take him aside one day after work and explain to him that these phone calls are totally unsolicited and unwanted by you and that you are in the process of getting a restraining order.

CYA.

Yup, you have to say something to your boss so he/she doesn't end up disciplining you for the calls.

Actually, if you fear any kind of backlash from the boss, you probably need to follow through with the restraining order.
