restoring files

edit: I'm also using ontrack easy recovery pro in conjunction with this...any suggestions would be welcome

Thorny question, I think...

I had files backed up on a separate hard drive which were deleted and emptied from the recycle bin. Then the harddrive was repartitioned and reformatted. Both before and after reformatting it was NTFS running winXP. Is there any way at all I could get to the files that were deleted before the reformatting?

I didn't do this myself, btw, though it was rather stupidly left on the drive on my part for someone else to delete and what-not...

might try system restore

only other thing i know of that might help is a data recovery tool. there are some at some of the file sites like Freeware Files.com. there are others. look under utilities, disk.
