Resting heart rate

Put my monitor on and am heading to the gym shortly. Thought I'd read some more posts first. Glanced at my watch and my rate hit 43 BMP. Proof AT H&F is good for me.😀

Off I go to sweat.

Dang, what are your stats? How much cardio do you do? Mine is only @ about 50 RHR.
I don't know where I rate with others here or of my age. Better than the average population though. SC ranked 5 in the fattest states so I'm pretty good around here. 46 yrs 6'1" 195-197lbs. During the winter my resting was ~50BPM. I posted this 3/7 http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2056605&highlight=highland145
At the end Zebo posted this "I'm 38 and stay between 155 and 163. I'm a thick muscular mesomorph, which I wasnt sucks for running believe me it's ugly but worth it."

I posted "Last night, I didn't have much time so decided to do 20 min and keep my rate at 150 or +. I didn't think a ~5% increase (5 to 8 BPM) would be that much more difficult. I managed it but it kicked my butt. New goal, I guess."

So for 3 weeks ~6 days per on the elliptical, I have been doing this. Back up to 40 min last night. This is the only thing I can attribute the low rate to. I have no idea how long it takes the body to respond to 85% max rate to give a lower resting rate. This minute, it's 48bpm.

Mines 41 under perfect conditions. Like just woke up or sitting and relaxing. (Timex chest strap) I usually jump in the pool after running and play with my labs and it gets to about 50 after awhile. So I'd say about 50 throughout the day. It was over 85 when I first started cardio and my doc said "heart attack waiting to happen"....

Same for my 43BPM. Others want to post resting rate /age. I'm 46yrs which I hope is middle age(46+46=92) and not old.

tested mine, at 52 bpm @ after coffee at the age of 25. but i'm a pretty big guy, 5'10'' 230 lbs. i try to do cardio alot. but i prefer lifting me some weights.

Been there but as I got older it became harder to stay injury free with heavy weights. And I needed to lose the gut.

Ya, I'm gonna have to shift my focus to cardio in the next 15 years or so.. I don't plan on ever just doing one or the other

Mine fluctuates between 45-52 bpm, depending on how hard I worked out the previous day (obviously higher after a hard workout). Since I run so much, I'm hardly ever completely recovered. I would imagine after a rest week I'd settle in the low 40s.

5'9", 137 lbs, age 27

Still, RHR is really only one indication of cardiovascular fitness - V02 Max, recovery rates after workouts, etc. are probably more indicative.

Mine I just started doing cardio (been doing it for a couple weeks now) but mine is always high

I can get it down to 64 or so but even 4 hours after going to the gym or doing cardio it remains above 80

I tried measuring it I got up once and it was in the 60s so

even just walking up some stairs it will get above 90

I can only manage to run about 3 miles since so hopefully this will improve alot as I increase distance and I'm planning on getting easing into HIIT as my cardio improves

I couldn't run 3 miles before I blew out the knee but the elliptical is pain free. Good luck.

Budda: Mine drops quickly but will still be 70 a couple of hours after the workout. Others here would know but I'm sure the lack of a good recovery will keep it high.
