Free dessert at Mortons, Claimjumpers, and Cattlemens.

Hehehhehe, on my bday I'm gonna hit Fuddruckers for lunch and Todai for dinner and Claimjumpers for dessert. Then I'm gonna explode.

for some reason today (norcal: verified apr. '03) gives free meals on your bday. according to my friend, todai (socal) still gives you a certificate redeemable for your next visit.

and yes, they look @ your driver's license so if you and your friends want to celebrate a day(s) earlier/later, it won't work.
then you have restaurants like baker's square which gave me a free slice of pie when my friends told them we were celebrating my bday even though we were celebrating it a day after.
OP, u might wanna add baker's square to your list

Sort of on the same topic, free carwash on your birthday at Scrubba Dub, I get mine yearly :) and they do check your license.

So how do you guys go about doing this? Merely go to the hostess or waitress and mention "hey it's my birthday. Do i get a free meal?"

How? Goto wait staff member, say "My friend <name> has a birthday today, can you come over and sing for him/her?"

Usually no verification on small goods like desserts.

I think Denny's stopped giving free meals a few years ago

If you have a Hof's Hut in your area they have a card you can fill out with your B-Day and anniversary and they'll send you a voucher for a free meal on those days. Just walk in fill out the card and give it to the hostess.

Nevermind that to get these comes with the Ultimate Price...them coming to your table and publicly humiliating you with the off-key singing, and clapping and the shouting and hurting my ears and pride... </Prof. Frink>

haha, true. But it's so worth it for a slice of Claim Jumpers 7,000 layer Chocolate Cake. Ok, maybe 7,000 is a stretch but that is the biggest peice of cake I have ever seen. AHHHHHHHHH!

I'm not sure how widespread these chains are, but *some* (some have signs up, some don't) of the Buffalo Wild Wings (BW3) will give you 12 free wings on your birthday. Max and Erma's will give you a plate full of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies or some lame ice cream thinger. :)

I've never even heard of most of these places....

I don't think it's been mentioned, but Iguana Mia gives you a free meal.
