The wife and I are going to NYC for a night to see a show, have some food, drinks, etc.

What are some good choices for food in or around Time Square. I won't be driving (valet when we get to the hotel) and I'd rather just walk wherever we go.

My preference would be seafood or something on the lighter side (as opposed to tons of pasta or steak).

Any suggestions? Not too concerned with price.

I'd probably just ask the concierge at the hotel to make some reservations for you.

restaurants open and close so fast in NYC, other than the chains I'd assume that nothing is still open for business in the area that was around when I used to work on 33rd St.

Well "the lighter side" eliminates Churrascaria Plataforma which is amazing...there is a restaurant in the Marriott overlooking Times Square i would suggest.

How far in advance should I make reservations? Should I call the concierge before we check in (like maybe Thursday or Friday)?

I work in Times Square and eat out here all the time.

I know you said you're not looking for italian, but I love Carmine's. Awesome italian food, and the place is very nice too. Just be careful, the portions are HUGE! If you're looking for a different italian place, Tony's Dinapoli is very nice too.

If you're looking for asian fusion, check out Ruby Foo's

It's not a fancy restaurant, but I love Bubba Gump for seafood. They have tons of different type of shrimp dishes. Unlike the other places, they don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait before you're seated.

If you like bbq, check out Virgil's.
