new burger place opened near me.

The basic burger is called "The Burger."
it's $7

The Burger
This is the one that put us on the map. Served on a fresh, buttery-toasted brioche bun. Specify lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mojo sauce.
Add Bacon $0.99, Add Cheese $0.99

"Do you want bacon?"
No

"Do you want cheese?"
No

"You dont want any cheese sir???"
NO!

I dont mind the upsell.

but I take re-asking the cheese question as a hard sell, and thus why i'm recommending people to not spend their $ here.

Really? You got bent out of shape for asking cheese twice?

The Five Guys nearby me is also $7-8. With fries and drink it comes out to $12-14. wtf.

They're terribly overrated.

This is why making your own burger is the best, cheaper tastes better and you get exactly what you want.

Though if I don't have any time I have some local joins that have great burgers and are cheap. One I can get a big burger with lots of stuff on it, a big basket of fries and a drink for 5 bucks.

I know right? I don't get the Five Guys hype. Fucking $12 for a mediocre FASTFOOD burger.

I can go to a mainstream CHILI'S and get their $10 applewood super thick bacon burger which is fucking HUGE and have a proper sit-down meal for same price.

rofl. so true. I still occasionally will go get a burger from a place like that (mooyah's/five guys), but I try to split fries with my gf or friends that I'm with. helps cut costs a little bit. I also try not to get a drink, but sometimes I just need that sweet sugary bubble liquid to wash all that greasy meat down.

We're all aware of high end burgers at a proper sit-down restaurants. Kobe, Wagyu, dry-aged etc.

Five Guys is neither high quality or cheap. It sucks.

I wouldn't say it sucks. BUT it is not high end stuff.

when i want a decent greasy burger its the place i hit. i agree its overpriced but its not bad.

not the best i have had. heck nowhere near it. but for a fast food place its great.

I checked out their menu.
This is just silly.
The 9 Pounder
As featured on The Travel Channel, Food Network, and in an official I.F.O.C. competitive eating contest. Actual weight including bun and condiments is 15.4 pounds. Two heads of lettuce, eight tomatoes, three red onions, four whole pickles and a river of our mojo. Comes with a bottle of Maalox. If one person can eat it in one sitting it’s free. Feeds approx 10-15. 24 hours notice please.
Who could possibly eat 15 lbs of food, ever ? 3lbs of food with a huge prime rib is possible, have seen promotions like that.

Wait, I love me some of Red Robin's Royal Burger, but how is eating a burger at one of these place's more sit down then Five Guys, because it comes on a plate and someone re-fills your drink? Thats what qualifies as "sit down" and "proper"?

Doesn't even look special. Not that I would ever try to eat any of those promotional huge meal dealies, but I would at least want it to be something more than just a freakish size. They may as well be offering a free meal if the customer drinks 2 gallons of water within 1 hour.

Look at the burger. It's a big juicy ball of goodness, not two skinny ass flat patties. Yes, you get service, refills, and comfy real seats and it comes out to same price.

Ehh, where I go (Bulldog's in Wauconda)
it's a bit expensive for a burger, but ohhhh so delightfully good. ($5 for a 9oz hamburger, $8.95 for a double with 18oz of ground steak, cheese, and bacon, and grilled onions..... The Double D there is the best cheeseburger I've ever had, followed closely by the Hangover, which is a 9oz patty with a fried egg and some cheese, followed by a burger which also had gyro meat on it that they had for a special once.....

Anyhow ... If I want a burger, I consider bulldogs above all else, as nothing else I've ever had is even close...
