Restaurant has an Employee With HIV. Would You Eat There Knowing That?

You discover a local restaurant you absolutely love has an employee living with HIV.

Would you still eat there?

FIXED the POLL. Vote again. My poll was misleading

Yes. What are the odds anything would be contracted by eating there?

Edit, wait wait wait... your title says "Would you eat there?" then your poll answers say "Yes, I'd be afraid" or "No, I'm ok with it"...you've got it backwards 😛

My answer is : yes I would continue to eat there, NO I would not be afraid of catching anything.

I almost voted wrong but caught myself.

Thread subtitle asks: Would You Eat There Knowing That?
Actual poll is the opposite: Would you stop eating there?

Thumbs up for my reading ability!

Host or chef? Waiter? Head honcho?

Come on man, that's quite possibly the most important detail of this thread.

And if you don't get to know, then no. Definitely not. Anyone could forget to take their medication.

Hep C, HIV, C Dif, etc. restaurants are a smorgasboard of virii. They are the new delicacies.

If he cut himself and dropped a minute amount of blood into your food?

You do realize it would be virtually impossible for you to contract it that way, right?

So much so that the question is flatly absurd.

As an aside, no person has ever contracted HIV from a food service employee without sharing a needle with them or fscking them.

The HIV virus is pretty fragile. Even if he bled on it after it was cooked, I don't think the virus would survive long enough to infect you. Also, who the fuck just bleeds on people's food randomly? There are certainly accidents in the kitchen, but I would think that an HIV positive guy would go to great ends to make sure he didn't bleed into anything that was being served.

AIDS is one of the most difficult diseases to catch. Even with intercourse, it is hard to catch it. On average, you have to have unprotected sex 11 times with a partner with HIV to become HIV positive.

A drop of blood in your food wouldn't do a thing to you. Your body's defences would easilly take care of that. Also, hopefully your food is cooked which should destroy the virus. What are the chances that someone with AIDS will cut himself and then bleed on your post-cooked meal without either you nor the person with AIDS noticing?

It could be anyone. From chef to waiter to bussboy.

Is it a sushi restaurant and is he the sushi chef?

Agree.

If the individual is cooking the food, then yes I most likely would still eat there.

The HIV virus is pretty weak outside of the body and can only live for a short amount of time.

That would be a dumb reason to stop eating there. As long as the guy isn't actively letting his blood spill over my salad, and I don't have to take my food intravenously the chances of me catching HIV from him are about the same as me catching HIV from a public toilet seat. Not very likely.

the odds on getting HIV from a chef makeing the food is very small to near impossible.

BUT no id on't think i would eat there. irrational fear FTW!

It still makes me wonder though... how is it that people don't know now these things? It's been almost 25 years.

People are nervous and don't want in any way to contract the disease.
