Is there a way to do it? In 98 you could just hold shift when you restarted and it would just restart the OS instead of going through the BIOS and counting the memory and verifying DMI pool and all that stuff... how do you do it in XP? Thanks. :)

You can't do that with any of the WinNT kernal based OSes.

What the Win9x kernal would do was shutdown and restart the 32-bit portion of the OS, but the 16-bit portion remained in memory and did not need the restart.

WinXP does not have the 16-bit portion, as it is completely 32-bit.

Not sure what's the reason why you wanted to do that. But maybe you can try logging off and back on.
