Ok, so I have this AT case with an old P55T2P4 mainboard in it sitting in a closet. Then I read this article from Toms Hardware:

http://www6.tomshardware.com/howto/00q3/000725/index.html

I can actually use the board with a decent processor! :) I have 2 PCI video cards I am going to throw in. A Voodoo2 12mb, and a Savage 4 32mb. I'm not sure which will be better with the K6 processors, but I'll do some testing and find out.

But as for the processor on this board, what should I use? I know that Tom reccomends the K6-2 500, but I was wondering if a K6-3 would work just as well. I have an opportunity to purchase a K6-3 at a decent price, but I want to make sure that it works with the P55T2P4 before I go out an buy it!

Any help would be greatly apprecaited. I guess I don't really understand the fundamental differences between the K6-2 and K6-3!

Thanks,

I would recommend you to upgrade your MB to a via MVP3 based board, t2p4 is great but it is still slow due to the low FSB and cache size. If you don't mind reinstall windows, you can try something like FIC 503+ which is around $50 on yee-bay.

upgrading MB is better than upgrading CPU for your case.
