I agree that there is no need to respect an opinion that is factually wrong.

If someone thinks the Earth is flat, or it is 6,000 years old, their opinion on that matter is not worthy of the same respect as someone who accepts reality.

If someone thinks Obama is a secret Muslim born in Kenya, their opinion on that one issue is not worthy of respect. That doesn't give one a free pass to dismiss every other opinion that they hold.

Exactly. No one is ever 100% right about everything. Dismissing someones opinion because of another opinion they have doesn't make sense, unless it becomes a habit, in which case, the habit of dismissing ones opinion happens.

Well, you could start by accepting that there are indications of such. Bowing to the Saudi King is one example. Describing the Muslim call to prayer as "the most beautiful sound in the world" is another. (Most of us would liken it to cats being rhythmically stretched on the rack.) Cancelling traditional Judeo-Christian White House events while starting or continuing new Muslim White House events is a third.

An excellent example of the sort of comment that calls the appropriateness of respect for someone's opinion into question. Thank you.

Do I need to post the picture of Dubya walking holding hands with a Saudi leader? I guess not, but then, he's white and a "real American".

werepossum - your accusations bare little fruit as I've searched the intertubes and keep running into dead ends - and If I've missed something, then please share....

What I've found has been opinion-overdrive....

\and I offer this thread as an example of opinion-overdrive....

This is a logical fallacy: ad logicam

The idea that if the other person fails to present a proper defense of his or her perspective, said perspective is wrong.

There may be many other, un presented, logical arguments that defend the position, but which the arguer is ignorant of.

the same way you respect african americans in the inner city despite their high incarceration rate; and ex-cons that are trying to live honest lives now; and anyone else that's a in a lowly position primarily because of her or his environment.

The points about the 'facticity' of your statement, I feel, do not get at the problem you are presenting.

If you make an assertion and have no evidence to back it up whatsoever, then you shouldn't make the assertion... if you do, do not expect to be taken seriously.

define evidence to back it up.....
Even so called evidence can be misleading and not accurate yet people use statements that at first glance appear to be valid...until you check out the source...

Then again if say your source is stormfront and you honestly believe as they do then where do you go.....

Note that my initial comment regarding Obama being as Muslim was started with a question phrase, not a declaration phrase.

Many overlook wording and word play to go off on a tangent and/or make a fool of themselves.

TBH, my initial reaction was that you were jabbing at the lefties here with that. I later thought you were just giving that as an example, but it could easily be misinterpreted, especially since we do have people here using the moronic "Obama is worshipped" strawman on a regular basis.
