This thread

I thought the OP asked his questions considerately and with good explanation, good conversation starter. Some people seemed willing to answer seriously and participate. I didn't see any over the top flaming yet, and more often that type of flaming is dealt with via discussion. Is there some reason I'm missing, like a nef context at the time of the thread's creation?

From the thread at 4:46PM:

"Pre-emptive lock

More of the same filth (idiotic posts by some) will show up, and we do not want to have to montor it.

Okay, so there were some other threads going at the same time, that's what I was missing. Thanks!

So lock it before it becomes a problem? Is that really fair for those who wanted to have a serious discussion?

I mean, it's kind of like closing down every store because eventually someone's gonna shoplift.

I'm sure there are Homosexual Forums you can visit that discuss that topic probably to a greater degree than Anandtech with a lot less trolling. You might even get some good tips on Home Decorating and Hair Styling.

The discussion in that thread up to the point where it was locked was informative and interesting. IMO the lock was unwarranted.

The AT moderators lock threads preemptively and lock threads due to hijackers all the time. It's tantamount to punishing the victims because of the criminals. Unfortunately the mods are neither informative nor apologetic regarding these backwards practices.

The lock has been now removed to allow participation after a Moderator discussion/review.

The Moderator comment in the OP has been changed to reflect the guidelines.
