RESOLVED - Notebook connection speed change

When I'm in class and running on batteries, I can't connect to the university wireless network as reliably or as fast as when the charger is hooked up. My battery life between charges seems fine, but could this still be a battery issue? Is this normal?

UPDATE:

I found a setting that changes the network power consumption based on the laptop's supply. Thanks.

Depending on who makes your laptop you may have setting in your cmos for this. i would surely look at your power profiles in the control panel. If your notebook came with any specific software check your network card settings for power profiles as well as I've seen this on most newer laptops
