*resolved, see post below*

What happened: Power failure

What the computer is doing: Instantly on boot, computer says Award Bios, yada yada, then says "BIOS ROM CHECKSUM error" and has really fast and loud bebebebebebe beeps. It also says something about floppy drive error, but I don't have a floppy disk drive installed and I don't have the floppy cable connected to the mobo.

What I've tried: Reseting CMOS. I've tried reseting with the jumper, by removing the battery and have tried both with the PSU plugged in and totally unplugged. I've also tried holding down Insert / Delete / F1 and every other combination and the error and beeps come up instantly on boot still.

What my idea is: Bad BIOS Rom Chip. Will probably have to order a new chip from excaliber PC for $16.99 plus $5 shipping.

Could it be anything else? I was thinking I might be able to connect a floppy drive with a good bios flashed on the disk and it might grab the bios off the disk on boot. What are your thoughts?

I ran into the same problem yesterday, and it turned out to be a flaky stick of memory. Try using one stick of memory in each of the 3 slots. If you have a spare stick of try it as well.

I'll try that John. Also, I've also been reading about how I should pull the battery, switch the jumper, and keep it unplugged for about 10 minutes. Before I was letting it rest for about 2 or 3 minutes with the jumpers switched, it might need more time.

I had to hookup a floppy drive to the computer... I had to make a bootable floppy and copy over AWDFLASH 8.23Z (8.23K would NOT work, no matter what) and Abit bios 2.3. Once I did that, all was good =)
