*RESOLVED* Is this normal?

I got an OCZ PSU from Newegg that had a $20 MIR on it, and today I got an email back saying my rebate request had been denied because I "submitted a copy of the UPC symbol or proof-of-purchase tab."

I have never submitted copies of my UPC's when I apply for rebates! If you do that you can be guaranteed they won?t take it.

What infuriates me is that this claim is totally FALSE. I cut the UPC from the back of the box, put it in the envelope, and mailed it.

If they had said the request came without a UPC, or if they had claimed I had a copy of the receipt that would be more understandable, as there is a greater chance of me forgetting to put it in the envelope or something, rather that than actually sticking the box on a copier and copying the UPC!

What I would like to know is if other people have had the same experience with OCZ's rebate center concerning this, or other OCZ product rebates.

Also, what can I do to correct this? How do I prove to them that the UPC they have (with original cardboard box backing,) is actually NOT a copy?!

Thanks!

UPDATE:

OCZ has honored my rebate.

 for them responding so quickly and getting this cleaned up!

It looks like they have great customer service and I would still suggest buying from them. (I would not have said that this morning.)

Thanks again guys! :)

Yes, This exact same thing happened to me. I don't order anything for OCZ anymore. If you read up about rebate centers... they promise companies that x% will not get the rebate and inorder to do that some of them they have to lie about.

I never got the rebate and I didn't care to persue it any further, $20 isn't worth it.

I send them an email demanding the rebate situation be reevaluated this morning. :(

It makes me mad when companies rip off people.

That really sucks. Maybe if you call them they will change their tune. While not this same situation, nor this same company, and likely a different rebate clearing house, I had been sent a postcard about a rebate that said I hadn't included everything. I called them up, and I couldn't even get 2 sentences out and the guy was saying "that card was sent to you in error".

I don't know what will happen in your case, but it's worth a shot. It's possible that they pull x% of rebates and try this scam. Then, out of these, whoever calls about it is awarded the rebate. It sounds crazy, but when it comes to rebates, it seems like anything goes.

Good luck.

OCZ was trash about 4 years ago, I mean horrid utter trash that would take weeks to ship an in-stock piece of memory.

They then "revamped" and got better only took 1 week to ship, guess they're back to their old selves.

Bottle-line don't buy anything with the OCZ brand on it, it's either cheap junk or horribly supported.

it has nothing to do with the quality or support. This has to deal with the fact that the rebate company is doing this. Which makes which every company using them look bad.

Their support has been stellar when I had to RMA a stick of ram recently. Got a new one within a week times period.

Yep.

OCZ is way different now than how they used to be. Their customer support is exceptional.

I remember seeing somewhere that people had problems with some rebate and contacted OCZ about it and they took care of everything.

Sorry but it is in direct reflection of OCZ. OCZ hires a company who represents them for this particular part of their business. It's no different than being mad at OCZ for a product failing - no matter that they don't make the actual chips on their ram sticks. It's still their duty to make and support a quality product. It's a lack of support to have a rebate denied for any reason that isn't true. OCZ is ultimately to blame.

Adul is absolutely right.

First of all I apologize for any issues you guys are having regarding MIR's. We want to make sure that all cuatomers are 100% satisfied with both the product and the experience with OCZ, and that our MIR service matches our product quality and in-house support. We have recently gotten rid of two Mail in Rebate processing houses becuase of lack of service and response to our customers. We are currently revamping the process and making it easier and faster for customers to get thier MIRs.

If you currently have any issues please PM Eric at ryderOCZ, or email our internal MIR support clerk Peter at rebates@ocztechnology.com

Here at OCZ we do take all your comments very seriously, and customer service and support are of the utmost importance to us. Thank you for your support and patience, and rest assured that you will be taken care of.

Thanks,
Alex

This reminds me to video tape my entire mail in rebate process from purchase of the product to mailing: Just in case sh!t like this happens. But I always tape the original CPU and receipt to the rebate form.
