I'm not a "high ender". 1920 x 1080 because that's what I had to buy for my new rig. I prefer 1680x1050. (HD 5770, altho' not asked).

I have 1920x1080 but hopefully 2560x1440 will become more common and affordable soon. I would not even play modern games if I had to use the horrific 5:4 1280x1024 resolution.

1680x1050

Thinking about upgrading, 2560x1440 would be nice but expensive and no 120 hz at this resolution.

Does 120 hz have any benefits if you don't need 3D? Downsides? (What happens if fps from gpu is lower than 120?

16:9 seems to be the only option. i often get killed by people I don't even see on screen.

There are still a few 16:10 monitors available out there. But not many.

I meant because in games you have a smaller Field of View and hence enemies that you don't see can see you and hence kill you.

But I agree for work or a laptop I would never want 16:9.

Me too...well, max resolution available is 1600x1200...I'm too damned blind to see most text at that size though...so I currently use 1280x1024 for most things.

19" Sony Trinitron CRT monitor.
its a 4:3 monitor so use 1280x960 not 1280x1024.

I have a CRT, so I use whatever resolution I want up to 1600x1200, but I generally use 1280x1024. Plan to buy a new computer in the spring, and part of the build will be a ZR24w, so my resolution will go up to 1900x1200.

1920x1080 or maybe the 1680x1050 one if the games a bit laggy
if you cant handle a game at 1920x1080 then drop to 1600x900 to maintain the same aspect ratio. with a 5850 I cant imagine why you would have to drop down from 1920x1080 though. if anything back off on a setting or two and stay at your native res.
