Pentium 4 600 @ 4.2Ghz
2 gigs Corsair
Abit AW8-Max
BFG 7800GT using latest Forceware...

When playing games like BF vitenam, my maximum resolution is only 1024x768 in the game...I can't figure out how to fix it...any ideas?

I'm using a Viewsonic VP912b with the latest drivers.

I asked about this on a couple of other forums.
My crt has unlimited resolution options, but my lcd has a max res of 1024x768.

I was told there is nothing you can do about it.I just cranked up the aa/af.It's about all you can do as far as I can tell. This is the only game I have noticed it in though.

What's the max res of your LCD? 1280x1024? I believe you can either edit an ini file to enable 1280x1024, or go into the nvidia drivers and add a custom resolution of 1280x960 and use that instead.

the max is 1280x1024...it's weird, my x800xl would allow 1280x960 on this game (and a few other).

for instance, Pirates (sid meier) only allows a max res of 1154x864...it's confusing the hell out of me.

I have the 913T,19"lcd, so it has a native res of 1280x1024.I have found where people have changed a file, but some had crashing problems. The only thing I haven't tried is running it analog to see if that makes a difference.

Gulzakar, you said your ATI card worked fine. Was this with your LCD?Is this just a problem with Nvidia cards?
What other games is this happening in?

same LCD...I bought the 7800gt on a whim.

Let's see, all the BF1942 games ran 1280x960 on my lcd, ummm... I can't think of any others so far. Dawn of War runs fine at the native res. (so does farcry).

it's jsut bizarre...I don't think it's the video card, but rather, and issue with the LCD's out there.

Try editing in your video.con file the "VideoSettings.setResolution" entry. Change it to 1280x1024@60Hz and see what happens.

Or do what I said and add a 1280x960 as a custom res in your drives. Right click, properties, settings, advanced, Geforce whatever tab, screen resolutions and refresh rates, add.

Strange, usually the problem is caused on an LCD because your selectable resolutions are 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024, with the game not allowing non 4:3 aspect ratios. Thus 1280x960 tends to be a supported a resolution and adding it is enough to get it in game.
