Resolution - graphical quality comparison

Can anyone tell me whether a 21" crt is compares with the resolution and sharpness found with LCD HDTVs?

I was under the impression that CRT monitors still display sharper, higher resolution graphics. Is this the case?

Depends on the models you're talking about, but generally yeah, most 21" crt will have higher resolution than most LCD TVs.

Your average 21" CRT will have the edge in sharpness but it's not widescreen so doesn't give the same field of view.
Numbers wise HDTV has two standards - 720 ones give about 720 by 1280, and 1080 ones give 1080 by 1920. A 21" crt should do at least 1200 * 1600, if not 1500 by 2000.
