when will monitors like this be available to consumers, with decent refresh rates and pixel timing?
I would love a nice ~21 inch LCD, but 1600 x 1200 is just too low! :( Are nice 2048 x 1536 screens available?

somethings not right with that monitor. only tile or stripe mode at max res. only 60hz at 1600x1200. even my lame monitor does 85 at that res:pP

that being said, u can adjust font sizes, higher res = crisper fonts
!

Uhhh... LCD refresh rates don't mean jack... 60Hz looks the same as 75Hz. What really sucks is the response time... that's what you should be worried about. If anything 60Hz is probably optimal for LCDs... because they don't refresh like CRTs.

Pardon the dumb question, but what are "tile" and "stripe" modes?

Seriously, think about it. A CRT needs refresh because the pixels aren't "always on" like an LCD can be. CRT pixels must be refreshed by the electron guns to stay illuminated, LCD pixels do not...

dont' you mean 1800 x 1440? or 1920x1080?
I'm sure he means 1920x1440, thats what my 19" goes up to, and I'd use it, but it only supports 60Hz at that res.

1440/1920 = 0.75, which is the normal ratio.

When you can afford to shell out $20,000 USD I'm sure you can buy a new and improved version of this LCD.
