resizeing a linux install

Linux mint Rebecca with KDE.....the drive is 2TB Seagate barracuda...i let mint do the partitions as u do.root or the ext4 is 1.8tb..Linux extended is 8 gig and Linux swap is 8 gig... question is this ..if i boot off the mint install disk will gparted allow me to resize the ext4 part to 100Gb leaving what ever free space is left un partitioned hopefully so i can clone it to fit onto my 120gb ssd/hdd i got one given to me it has done 1000 hours approx so i was told...never less this is the task at hand...i have done a lot of work searching for all the apps and add-ons..and yes i have made a clone of the 2Tb so i have a new backup on a hdd..made it today..i have clonezilla or if there is another way ...any input would be appreciated...my ssd is a patriiot pyro 120 gb..

That should work, and is how I'd approach it, but I haven't done it before, and don't know if it's the best way.
 
I just finished resizing my partitions to triple boot MS-DOS, Windows XP and Linux. MS-DOS couldn't find COMMAND.COM on the FAT32 partition unless I stuck it before 8GB so I had to reduce my XP partition to 6GB which looks quite funny but IT FINALLY WORKS! Hooray for GParted. :awe:
